You can't get bogged down in non-VP cities.taniquetil wrote:But in terms of overall strategy, how do you go about getting DV? Aside from Hack-34 tanks, the Russian forces are generally not very strong, it's just that the map has too many points to capture in too few turns. Considering the length of time these scenarios take I actually considered using console commands to turn back the counter so I could finish it and move on.
(1inf/1tank/1art = 1 division)
In the North - 1 Division supporting the AUX troops in capturing Rzhev. Will link-up with Center to Push onto Mozhaisk/Volokolamsk.
In the Center - 2 Divisions pushing for Vyazma->Mozhaisk->Volokolamsk. Supported by one extra Panzer Brigade.
In the South - 3 Divisions pushing for the Kaluga->Serpukhov->Kalomna line, to encircle Moscow from the Noginsk. Supported by one extra Panzer Brigades and one Artillery Brigade.
In the Far-South - 1 Division of my most in-experienced troops tasked with taking Bryansk and later Tula with the help of the southern AUX forces.
This has gotten me Decisive Victories in Moscow 41 three times (once on General and twice on Field Marshal).
That said, I had to replay it on General once due to terrible weather (Mud and Snow since early turns). I won on turn 15 the second playthrough.
On Field Marshal I won on Turn 13 and 15, although the 2nd win I delayed to capture non-VP cities for extra prestige.
P.S. AUX units are a useful for taking non-VP cities if they can't keep up with the main push.
