Yes all TYW.
Anyone care to share the composition of any of these Later 30YW Germans? I have been writing lists for this force (Catholic in my case) and would be interested in how others have picked it.

Certainly since I am late writing battle reports. Since I started off thinking this was an infantry dominated game a year ago, I wanted to try a powerful mounted wing.

From memory
2 TC
1 FC sub (for FM)
2x4 unarmoured average Reiter
1x3 Dragoon (needed points)
1x2 light arty.(needed points)
5 Foot units average. I think 2 had regimental guns
1 Commanded shot
2x4 HA Superior Horse
2x4 A Superior Horse
1x4 A Sup DT Horse* This may be just been ordinary horse

The idea was to crush the opponents mounted wing and turn before their stronger infantry could do the same to my infantry force. Not having the 4th general was a handicap. Also normally i love superior foot with RG. But couldn't get a strong enough mounted wing and those.

Thanks for that - lots of food for thought there. 7 units of horse is certainly a powerful mounted wing. Did you get enough value out of the Reiters? I can see the place for the dragoons in that force despite being only 3 bases. Anything you would change if you were to take a horse heavy list again? Light horse for example?

FWIW, I just plugged that list into a spreadsheet and came up with 798 points (with the 1 x 4 det. horse). That was at work though without the books.

Cheers
Paul.

Well the 3 generals is a limitation. I keep experimenting with it and find i cann maje due with 3.5 generals. You send the FC on a flank march and that really limits you redeployment options. However the army is designed not to need much.

1 Reiter is mandatory the 2nd was probably due to not having a better idea. The reiter idea is one can be on an FM. 2md choice is rear support for the kuriassiere. The 3rd choice is one can be off as a target to distract 2-3 BGs of enemy forces.

The weakness is for all that mounted its really only enough to domiante one wing. So you need to commit, win and turn onto the center very aggressively. I think the deployment process will really telegraph the avenue of attack. Also you can't deploy wide.

I thought about the LH, but what do you give up? Reiters? OK but the LH does what it runs forward and slows someone down. It get in the way on your attacking wing. So it just didn't fit.
