May 19th 1940 (10)
Dunkirk fell today and the 1st Division now drives on Calais

The British Infantry, Artillery and Flak Regiments around Lille have been destroyed leaving only the Engineers still heavily entrenched in the city itself.

The British armour in the south is destroyed leaving no mobile Allied units capable of major offensive action.

In the mist of battle another Regiment has distinguished itself

May 20th 1940 (11)
Lille was overrun today destroying the remaining British presence.

May 21st 1940 (12)
Boulogn-Sur-Mer and Calais are now occupied by Wehrmact forces

May 22nd 1940 (13)
The 2nd Grenadier Regiment receives recognition of their efforts taking Arras
Image

May 23rd (14)
Abbevelle, the last bastion of French resistance and my final strategic objective for this operation falls. A victory every bit as decisive as my previous two

Decision time again!

I have plenty of prestige so for the 1st time I shouldn't need to make too many comprimises!

I can afford to upgrade all my trucks to half tracks and give my Gebirasjager halftracks (3inf+3 Art) for 600
My panzer 2 can be upgraded to a IV for about 300

After bringing every one back up to 10 strength points I'll still be left with aprox 1500 and 2 units slots....

I'm goign to follow earlier advice and purchase a 2nd Ju88A level bomber but leave my 1st in reserve so as not to use a unit slot up so still leaving me 2 units to buy
My wish list is - more fighters (at least 1 more ready for Sea Lion) Another Panzer IV to take me to 6 tanks, More Sturmpanzers and some Pionere Infantry....clearly more than I can afford and more units than I have slots (I don't want loads of units in reserve!)

My current thinking is 1 more fighter to take me to 5 and a SturmPanzer...mainly because I still have 1 more SE unit I can be awarded and I'll hold out hope that I get another tank to get my wanted 6 (eventually I'll add more but 6 is fine for now)

So as before, any advice?

I think those are very good choices. How many total artillery pieces will you have after the Sturmpanzer purchase? I'm usually up to 5 by France, but 4 will do since you have an Aux StuG at your disposal.

After the Sturmpanzer purchase I'll be upto 5 Atrillery (2 self propelled)

If I go for what I was thinking (which after bein g endorseed by you makes it almost 100% likely) I'll have in total

7 Infantry in Half tracks
5 Tanks
5 Artillery
5 fighters
1 fighter bomber
2 Tac bombers
2 Level bombers (1 will be in reserve in France)

June 4th 1940
It has been 12 days since operation Fall Gelb came to a successful conclusion. With only a week to rest and refit my Corps has deployed for the upcoming operation Fall Rot, the invasion of France
Image

My 3 Divisions are almost at correct paper strength with only the 1st Division still lacking her 2nd Regiment of Panzers, on the flip side I have used my influence with high command to expand to a 2nd artillery Regiment in each Division though up till now only the 1st Division had this formation present.
I have managed to secure additional half tracks to allow me to mount all my Infantry Regiments as well as replacing my Artilleries trucks. I also managed to secure deployment of another Sturmpanzer Regiment to my 3rd Division.
I have been advised that the wing of Ju88As currently assigned to my support Luftflotte has been temporarily grounded for maintenance and will not be available for the duration of operation Fall Rot, accordingly I used my influence with High Command to have a second wing assigned as well as a fifth wing of Bf109E fighters. The Bf110s have undergone a minor refit and are now classified as Bf110Ds.
My forces are deployed and the plan is set, operation Fall Rot starts in 1 hour

June 4th 1940 (1)
The 1st Division has advanced to contact spotting a British Armoured Regiment as well as more Engineers.
Image

They launched their offensive destroying two French front line Infantry Regiments including one defending Dieppe
Image

The 2nd Division has encircled Noyan destroying two more French Infantry Regiments as well as an artillery Regiment deployed to support the city.
They have also confirmed that the French central reserve includes two Tank Regiments though luckily no heavies.
Image

The 3rd Division managed to outstrip the other two advancing the furthest south destroying the French Infantry in Reims, badly damaging another and overrunning an Artillery position.
Image

Several counter attacks were launched by the Allies across the line but none made significant impact.
In the air three French Fighter wings and two Bomber wings(1Strat 1Tac) launch an aerial assault on our lines. I must give credit to my Luftflotte Commander as our Fighters were well placed to limit damage and only in one place were heavy loses incurred and not by our forces...

June 5th 1940 (2)
The 1st Division has captured Dieppe and Rouen, destroying the British Engineers and badly damaging an Artillery Regiment to get there
Image

Noyon falls to the 2nd Division as they fight hard against the French armoured forces; two Regiments of light tanks were totally annihilated totally blunting their offensive.
In the air a French fighter wing is wiped out and some Tactical bombers fall prey to our fighters.
Image

In a reversal of yesterdays advance the 3rd Division made little ground. They did however manage to destroy two French Infantry Regiments for no loss.
A second French fighter wing was engaged by our 88s causing enough damage that two of our fighter wings were able to mop up the rest.
Image

The French continue to launch minor counter attacks but with the Allied armour is disaray they achieved little.
They have withdrawn their bomber wings, a smart move in the face of seven Luftwaffe Fighter wings but their fighters continue to harass the 1st Division by air.

June 6th 1940 (3)
The 1st Division has advanced rapidly capturing both Le Harve and Vernon. The latter was a lucky break, the Regiment due to an error in map reading advanced to the wrong position however as luck would have it they found the city undefended (Player note: Its right click to deselect a unit!)
They also cleared up the last of the British presence in France annihilating the armoured and artillery Regiments.
The 1st Divisions Artillery also aid in the attack on the small pocket of resistance to their east.
Image

The 2nd Division has made little progress towards Paris though they did badly maul a French Infantry Regiment, the Light Tanks and an air defence Regiment.
Image

The 3rd Division continues to make rapid progress capturing Chalons-Sur-Marne and advancing on Troyes and Chaumont.
Image

The French counter attacks have almost stopped but their Armour drives for an Artillery Regiment getting stopped dead and destroyed by deadly accurate direct fire from the 15cm guns

June 7th 1940 (4)
The 1st Division captures Dreux and advances on Caen
Image

The 2nd Division concentrates on eliminating and reducing the Air Defence Regiments in the area to allow the Luftwaffe free rein in assisting the assault on Paris. I have also ordered them to deploy to deal with the small pocket of French resistance to their west
Image

The rapid advance of the 3rd Division continues and they capture Chaumont and secure the areas around Troyes and Chattilon, both of which should be in our hands tomorrow.
Image

With the rapid advance of the 3rd Division, the steady advance of the 1st Division and the slow advance of the 2nd Division I have re-evaluated the strategic plan, communications sent to my Division Commanders out line the change.

I too enjoyed your AAR. I'll be interested to see how you did with the low countries. You might need additional artillery to win that one. Re: bridging units, I usually only keep one. I upgrade to Pioniere as soon as I can.

June 8th 1940 (5)
1st Division has taken Caen, Argentan and two airfields today, they continue to advance meeting little to no resistance.
Image

The 2nd Division has made progress wiping out 1 Infantry Regiment, 1 Artillery Regiment and the last of the Flak guns
Despite this they are still two or three days away from being in position to mount an assault on Paris as they need much resupply.
Image

Troyes and Chattilon are both occuppied by the 3rd Division, lead elements report enemy units deployed to defend Djion including a Chasseurs Alpins Regiment, the last time we encountered these elite troops was in Norway and they proved resolute in defence and very hard to shift

June 9th 1940 (6)
I have ordered my Luftflotte fighter wings to scout ahead of my ground troops their mission to spot unprotected cities and potential ambushes.

The west appears to be clear and the 1st Division captures Cherbourg, Avranches, Le Mans and an airfield.
Image

The 2nd Division mostly resuplies but with support from the Luftwaffe its armoured Regiments clean up the last (AT) Regiment outside of Paris, air bombardment begins in preperation for the assault tomorrow.
Image

A fighter wing located a French Bomber wing on the prowl, they are downed before they are able to cause any mischief
Image

The French Alpins Regiment that I feared was easily destroyed by the 3rd Divisions Panzer Regiments. The support Anti tank Regiment was also forced to retreat with heavy casualties.

June 10th (7)
Luftwaffe report that Rennes is defended
Image

And that Tours is heavily protected, perhaps the last stand of the French?
Image

Eager for action after many days of advancing without opposition the 1st Division has launched the first assault against the positions at Rennes
Image

Paris has fallen! The 2nd Division has finally begun advancing south once more
Image

The 3rd Division has destroyed Dijons defenders leaving only battered remnants of an anti-tank Regiment
Image

The 9th Infantry Regiment has thrown up an extraordinary young man, he will be invited to dine with my command staff once this campaign is concluded

1st Division pushed hard against Rennes today destroying 2 Regiments
Image

The Luftwaffe report that Nantes is undefended so I have dispatched the battered Gebirasjager Regiment south to secure it
Image

The 2nd Division has taken Orleans with support from the 3rd who also secure Dijon. Both Divisions now drive on Tours and Frances last bastion of resistance

June 12th 1940 (9)
New equipment is now available
Image
It carries more fuel than the tactical bombers I currently have and is better equipped for tank busting but at the cost of lesser attack power versus soft targets, I'm not sure if its worth the trade off but then the extra fuel could prove useful.

Rennes falls and Nanto is captured, all forces now drive on Tours.

Word has reached me of an exceptional pilot flying with the 28th Bomber wing
Image
A future Luftwaffe Commander I'm sure

It seems the French still have some teeth left, a counter attack very nearly destroys the Pioneer Regiment.

June 13th 1940 (10)
As my forces closed the noose on Tours they sent me updates of further defences
Image

The last of the French Infantry was destroyed though they find the will to deploy another armoured car Regiment.

June 14th 1940 (11)
Four French Regiments were destroyed today- Both armoured cars, an anti-tank and more importantly the air defence; the Luftwaffe have been unleashed once more.
Image
The French manage to pull an Infantry Regiment from the south to reinforce their position, I wonder why they do not surrender, the odds are hopeless!

June 15th 1940 (12)
Not to be out done the 16th Bomber wing parade their own hero, a Pilot who I am told is an expert at avoiding Flak and leading his squadron to evade enemy fighters
Image

Tours has fallen and the last of the French resistance has been crushed, I now wait for the inevitable French surrender.

I'm gonna have to work on my Medal cut and pasting so it looks a bit neater next time!!!!

Well thats it, Sea Lion here we come - I only have 1 extra unit slot (as I still have the 2nd Ju88A) which is going to have to go on a 6th fighter!

The good news is I have plenty of prestige....enough to overstrength all my units buy the fighter and upgrade every thing I want to...and thats a 1st so far in the campaign!
