What about changing the CT threshold score for FRAG for an impact combat to 3 or less (rather than 2 or less as currently).

This would make losing an impact combat a tad more deadly (slightly more likely to FRAG) but would not affect the chance of passing the CT.

I rather like Dave's idea of not using re-rolls on impact dice. Maybe it should be extended to all combat rolls. The effect is something of a 'double whammy', better combat rolls and a much better chance to pass the cohesion test. Giving a death roll bonus based on armour would give some balance to the small BG's that tend to be armoured high morale types.

I have no problem with poor spear being good troops (until they have to take a test). I'm also on the side of the average protected MF with just a light spear. They really might as well not show up as things are. If these troops did fight historically, we need to give them a reason to fight in FoG.

Impact foot who win at impact should disorder, not disrupt, the bases they contact. if the loser then wins the subsequent melee phase they recover automatically. This would encourage bgs to impact on the widest possible front. It would aso mimic the scenario of a formed unit being broken into as a result of an impact.
