Actually, they are spanish i.e. your and you can base strategic bomber for example here, if you want and find it useless elsewhere.
Also be aware, that route from atlantic to red sea works (for allies, didn't tested for axis) both when allies or axis control port said, so allies can land from red sea, even if you secure Basra, like Jay did in our game.
