Hello

2 suggestions:

1) what about to let an unit been pushed back when the unit in the rear is a skirmisher?

2) the phalanx have used oblic tactic. So what about to give a bonus if a phalanx unit have another phalanx in the rear?

We deliberately did not represent Macedonian-style phalanxes in the same way as Swiss keils. For example, note how the Seleucid phalanx at Magnesia was effectively immobilised by the threat of the Pergamene cavalry on their flank after the Seleucid left wing cavalry was defeated.

I'd like to see an option for variable max LOS which could reflect time of day, weather, whatnot.

Could be interesting. Although it can currently be fairly easily implemented in user-created scenarios.

Ideally, there might be a couple of options: Standard, Random Low, Random Medium, Random Long.

I'd be happy with just the option of standard vs Random where you could choose a number as the average from which a plus or minus 10% might be generated. For example, if you chose a range of 20, then the randomly generated range for the battle would be a min of 18 and a max of 22.

While I've heard this can be done in user scenarios from Paul I think, I'd like to be able to have this is in any sandbox battle and/or campaign.

I'd like to see an option to flank march where I can pick the flank, or flanks, and designate the troops I want to send. Maybe during deployment, a small box of squares in each extreme corner on your edge could be used to place those troops and general you want to dispatch along that flank. Once deployment was confirmed, they'd be removed from the map and potentially arrive along the designated edge at some point later in the battle.

I'd like a dead elephant casualty figure laying crashed on the ground. Like with the other units when they take casualties. It'd make for some nice eye candy.

Is that too much to ask for?

Pretty please with sugar on top. ❤💞💕

I don’t have many wishes. Models look great. Game plays well. I just think even a basic symbol or motif for the army banners would improve the visuals immensely.

Historically, very few elephants were killed in battle. Mostly they fled from the battlefield and were rounded up later.

Actually, the mechanics to place a dead elephant casualty are already in the game. However due to the way that casualties are placed you will probably never see one.

A model "dies" when the number of men (or elephants) it represents become casualties. So a foot or cavalryman model dies when a unit suffers 60 casualties. As an Elephant unit only contains one model (representing 20 real animals), you would have to wipe out that unit to get an elephant model casualty on the ground.

As a test, I created a scenario with 4 elephant models per unit, so that each model now represents only 5 animals, and shot it until one model died:

It might be worth waiting until the game is updated with the Swifter than Eagles DLC, otherwise you will have to do it all again then.

Also, it would be best to do it as a mod, rather than edit your main installation files.

Heh, I've tweaked so much in the file already, it will be far easier to paste the new units into my mod directory :)

1st turn auto-reload random map

Not sure how hard this would be to implement, but it's a bit of a pain to cancel and re-create a challenge just because the map is not suitable for one or both of the players, especially in a tournament. Would it be feasible to have a 're-roll the map' option on the first turn for each player? Just throwing it out there.^^

Maybe make that reroll feature something that can be toggled on/off in advanced settings to prevent it from being used in games where they are not an option.

Interesting. Would you cap it at one re-roll? By definition a random map is random so re-rolling until you get a good map for your particular army seems a little unfair.

I think ideally you could configure the number of rerolls allowed, though I'd be fine with a simple one reroll cap per player.
