Re: Historical mods by Kondi
Many thanks for your effort now the japanes units attack my perimeter!! And planes so much planes
The other scenarios were working fine so far and don't wait to long for your modified USMC Campaign

And if a wish is allowed maybe some more battles for the USMC

Re: Historical mods by Kondi
I'm a bad boy and add some F4F-4 and F6F-5 as rocket versions but it is not really clear if only USMC were using them or the navy as well. Maybe you have some input for this
Re: Historical mods by Kondi
Cool
I thought about 'arming' more planes with missiles, but I gave up due to the proper balance between units in the core.
I'm amazed that I'm not such a geek of historical solutions as I thought and often think about the mechanics of the game.
As for Wildcat, I would have to check (I think this plane didn't have rocket hooks at all), the F6F-5 Hellcat and the F4U-4/F4U-5 Corsair certainly did.
I would limit myself to the USMC with rocket attacks...
EDIT. There were US Navy aircraft carriers raids 1944-45 where Hellcats masses attacked ground targets - Philippines, Taiwan, Japanese Islands, but this isn't in the game
British Hellcats (FAA) also used rockets
Re: Historical mods by Kondi
I found a picture from a F4F-4 with rockets but was not sure if only USMC was using it.
i don't get the switch to work between bomb and rocket..
i have now another buy option in the unit store instead.
or i add USMC version of F4F4, F6F5 etc..

Re: Historical mods by Kondi
Yes indeed
I found info that the last produced Wildcats had 3 rocket hooks
I think Wildcats with missiles only for USMC as US Navy no longer used them at the end of the war

Re: Historical mods by Kondi
It is yours unit.csv can you check what i did wrong? that the F4F-4 Wildcat is not useable.
I don't find the fault for it.

Re: Historical mods by Kondi
I need to check a bit more on my side i broke the complete game
So everything is working now after deleting my modding settings.
I copy&paste the F4F4 and change the ID to 25299 then change the weaponeffect from bomb to RocketStrafeAttack and delete the carrier entries because i don't know or check if USMC has own CV for the planes. I even try your settings with the switch option but even this is not working for me same for Hellcat and Corsair. Something i must doing wrong but i don't see the fault i do

In unit.csv entry is change for "wildcat_rocket_0_0"
"carrier" means that unit can land on a carrier deck
Re: Historical mods by Kondi
To be honest i don't know it but i this case "no" should be the correct answer..
Yeah but did the USMC had Carriers in WW2? If yes i would use it otherwhise delete it this would be a advantage for USMC in the game
Edit:
Now it is working for the F4F4 (USMC) and i can buy it
Re: Historical mods by Kondi
Looks like that the USMC Version of the Planes are working but not for the Rocket versions. the images are not for free i think
I try to find gmax but the version is not longer available for download
Re: Historical mods by Kondi
Finished today Burma Road and wow Kondi, wow!
I liked it to play and it was a bit more challeging i would say with the more historical usage of units compare to the standard version
especially that you bring in Hawker Hurricane IV as a tactical bomber was very nice same for the mosquito i liked this idea.
The first time in my OoB history that i use strategic bombers to play a campaign
.

It's not easy to show it well, but the Burmese campaign was a "beggars' war"
The Japanese used few tanks here (mainly tankettes and light tanks), little heavy artillery, the Ki-43 and Ki-44 were the top planes
The Allies did not receive more of the newer weapons until mid-1944 - especially fighters and bombers. The best equipment in 1945 were M3 medium tanks, regular Shermans (M4A4 with 75mm gun), M7 self-propelled howitzers and from aircraft: P-47 D, Spitfire IX or B-25G.
How's the last map? Wasn't it too hard?
Re: Historical mods by Kondi
To be honest i play it only on captain but it was not to hard and not to easy.
first try was a moment for some blame on me
acting like going in and clear the area was not the best way
.
2nd try was to change two of my Ghurkas units to paratroopers and getting asap air superiority to support this two units with some tactical bombers and my Strategic Bombers. Then hold and defend the right flank during capturering the first 80 Point supply point with my Paratroopers and attack on the left flank till i reach the river. .Regarding of my experience with the tactical bombers during Allies Defiant i don't buy tactical bombers so the hurricane IV was a little suprise for me and i change my Hurricanes IID to tactical Bombers as well to upgrade them. i had only one TBF Avenger which i upgrade to a mosquito. So in everyway a very interessting and good mix you create to say it again
.
When i will have the time i try to replay it on General

I suppose you mean Vultee VengeanceAcer6920 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 11:49 am Regarding of my experience with the tactical bombers during Allies Defiant i don't buy tactical bombers so the hurricane IV was a little suprise for me and i change my Hurricanes IID to tactical Bombers as well to upgrade them. i had only one TBF Avenger which i upgrade to a mosquito. I only used Avenger model to simulate this unique plane, which was very popular in Burma campaign during Imphal and Kohima battles.
Squadrons equipped with the Vultee Vengeance were actually rearmed later (before the decisive Allied offensive 44/45) on the Mosquito
Re: Historical mods by Kondi
Yes you are right and to be honest TBF Avenger was first in my mind
Edit:
I would like to make a suggestion for the P40E Warhawk you added to your Mod.
The difference between P40E and P40F was just the engine so i change movement from the P40E from 11 to 9 and change the cost from 85 to 80. Just to have a small difference between them. The P40F came in the middle of 1942 so maybe change the dates of use as well for the P40s Series fighter. I had at the battle of batan two messenges for reduce prices for P40E and P40F.
Edit #2:
i change it for me to this dates, don't know how accurate this is so far. i was not able to find information about the service date for the P40F and P40K.
From 20/1/42 to 7/6/42 P40E
From 7/6/42 to 7/12/42 P40F
From 7/12/42 to 1/6/44 P40K

Re: Historical mods by Kondi
Have to check it.
What I rememeber is the fact that Flying Tigers received P-40 E in spring of 1942, before this date there were earlier versions (they used export version of P-40, Tomahawk - so it was like P-40 D at most) . AVG had rather obsolete aircraft.
EDIT. But good enough to fight Ki-27 "Nate" and Ki-43 "Oscar" in Burma 1941/42
