NATO : Turn 17

Norwegian Sea

Image

Image

The Norwegian and British flotillas engaged until then were able to withdraw around the USS George H.W. Bush, where the relief fleets are beginning to regroup, including a second aircraft carrier: the HMS Queen Elizabeth. These reinforcements should make it possible to reverse the balance of power (pic 1). To the east, off Troms and its air base, anti-submarine helicopters are struggling to neutralize Russian assets (pic 2). Russian fighters are less and less present, NATO thinks they are in the process to acquire dominance in the air.

Scandinavia - North

Image

Image

Although the advance from the south is slow (pic 2), it seemed to have halted the Russian offensive towards Troms. NATO takes advantage of this respite to evacuate the Karasjok garrison and protect it with some reinforcements. The Norwegians intend to recover their territories and the losses have already been heavy; every soldier in the area will count. With a probable loss of initiative on the part of the Russians, the interest in holding Karasjok as long as possible has therefore fallen sharply (pic 1).

Finland

Image

Image

Image

After a long siege, the Finns repel the VDV from the vicinity of Kajaani - which marked the northern limit of the Russian axis of advance - thanks to Swedish artillery support (pic 1). West of Jeonsuu, the retreat continues. The British must abandon one of their unit of Challengers II, trapped after the Russian airborne operation (pic 2). It is now needed to establish a line of defense around Tampere, north of Helsinki, then to wait to have enough means to progress frontally towards Saint-Petersburg. In the meantime, the fleet is wearing down the Russian positions with its missile fire (pic 3).

Russia - Northern front

Image

Image

The British are preparing to cross the Narva river thanks to German naval support (pic 1). To the south, the Pskov-Ostrov line still holds, but the Belgian infantry are preparing to blow it up. Although its fate was beyond doubt, its still managed to greatly slow down the Allied pursuit (pic 2).

Road to Moscow

Image

Image

Image

Image

The Germans continue to pursue the fleeing Russians. The latters intend to take shelter behind the Volga before taking refuge around Moscow (pic 1). After crossing the Dnieper River at Smolensk, the Americans have a direct route open to Moscow. Only a panicked rearguard protecting the enemy retreat is currently opposing them (pic 2). The airborne operation east of Gomel was a resounding success: the entire Belarusian column on the run is destroyed. The city itself is captured by the Poles (pic 3). The French, having launched the offensive from Kyiv, reach Kursk and prepar to turn North in order to reach Moscow. With Russian resistance shattered near the Ukrainian capital, the French army is advancing at a good pace (pic 4).

Ukraine

Image

Image

Image

Kharkiv is reached (pic 1) as well as the outskirts of Donbass (pic 2). Russian resistance seems to be firming up there, NATO must regroup before progressing there.

Crimea

Image

Image

What was to be a fortress for the Russians becomes a death trap as the Italian fleet increases missile strikes. Despite the sharp reduction in anti-aircraft assets and the lacks of assets, Russian combat aircrafts continue to defend the skies. NATO loses a few aircrafts while trying to shoot them down (pic 1). The Greek fleet advances towards the Sea of Azov to support a conquest of Donbass (pic 2).

Syria

Image

The French paratroopers retreat to Latakia while the Italians counter-attack thanks to the naval support of the fleet. The Russians must fall back to Tartus. The Greeks land heavy equipment to secure the region.

Serbia

Russia : Turn 18

Norwegian Sea

Image

Image

The Russian fleet temporarily loses its targets. The submarines spotted the English flotilla, but as they prepared to strike, they were engaged by surprise by HMS Talent and driven back (pic 1). Air combat resumes north of Troms (pic 2).

Scandinavia - North

Image

Image

Karasjok is captured; its garrison, which was redeploying to the west, was targeted by a powerful artillery barrage and destroyed by ground troops. The local units will be able to withdraw towards Utsjoki more quickly (pic 1). To the south, the outnumbered Russians retreated in good order while vehicles arrived as reinforcements (pic 2).

Finland

Image

Image

Image

Image

Russian infantry gather around Kajaani to take the city and lock the northern flank of the Russian offensive (pic 2). The isolated Challengers are finally captured, the advance from Joensuu can resume (pic 3). Near the coast, the units redeployed to stay as far away from the German ships as possible. Missiles are regularly fired to wear down the defenders of Helsinki (pic 4).

Russia - Northern Front

Image

The south defense of Saint Petersburg can be put in place (pic) while the NATO forces are still blocked on the Pskov-Ostrov line.

Road to Moscow

Image

Image

Paratroopers are deployed west of the Volga to protect the retreat of units fleeing from the Belarusian front. A large air mission is launched to help the retreat and avoid a bombardment of the fugitives (pic 1). Those fleeing from Smolensk finally reached around Moscow while Belarusian Spetsnaz were left behind to gain time (pic 2).

Voronezh region

Image

The Russians are trying to regroup forces on the Don river, near Voronezh in particular, in order to stop the NATO offensives.

Ukraine

Image

Image

Kharkiv is already isolated (pic 1), but the defense of Donbass is already well organized. The Italian Ariete tanks at the forefront of the attack are repulsed with heavy losses. More and more reinforcements are coming from Georgia; while troops are redirected to the new Don army. The army in Ukraine must absorb the offensives; the army of the Don must prepare to counter-attack on the enemy's weak points. With Russian military resources at their lowest, this strategy is uncertain; especially since the initiative is clearly for NATO. However, general staff has nothing left.

Crimea

Image

Russians, constantly under fire from the Italian fleet, decide to withdraw from Crimea. Coastal regions are increasingly difficult to hold due to NATO's naval dominance.

Syria

Image

The Russian infantry must regroup at Tartus base before trying to regain the upper hand over the attackers. The Russians lack the assets to hope to retain control over Syria.

NATO : Turn 18

Norwegian Sea

Image

Image

The coalition fleets are regrouped and ready to take the initiative. The Russian surface fleet is no longer detected. On the right, the British counter-attacked and destroyed several submarines. With the resumption of air combat, the personnel of the air base of Troms are overworked: the arrival of HMS Queen Elizabeth will allow them to be relieved of their burden.

Scandinavia - North

Image

Image

Image

With the annihilation of the garrison of Karasjok, the Allied reinforcements fall back on the defensive towards the west (pic 1). The Swedes came to reinforce the southern offensive (pic 2). During this time, the Finns continue to protect the central road of the country, in order to help the operations of NATO (pic 3).

Finland

Image

Image

Image

The Tampere region is fortified to protect northern Helsinki (pic 2). To the east of the capital, the Americans led a small counter-attack, supported by the German fleet, in order to disrupt the Russian deployment. The joint efforts of the Helsinki Air Base and the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford enabled NATO air forces to re-equip in record time (pic 3); they are already beginning to carry out combat operations above Saint-Petersburg in order to neutralize one of the last Russian air forces still operational.

Russia - Northern Front

Image

Image

British regroup at Narva. The liberation of Estonia was done without a fight (pic 1). The Pskov-Ostrov line is destroyed following an assault by Belgian infantrymen (who shine for the first time in the war) and Germans (pic 2). The remnants of the Russian armies were able to evacuate, but the advance finally resumed. Objective: Saint-Petersburg.

Road to Moscow

Image

Image

Image

Russians have secured the retreat via the Volga river, the Germans are slowing down slightly. However, the air forces takes advantage of the Russian aerial intervention to continue to bleed it. The Russian ground forces were able to take cover, but the fighters are exposed (pic 1). Further south, the Americans are rushing to Moscow. The road seems clear (pic 2). The French, who destroyed the Russian armies in northern Ukraine, continue their breakthrough. They reach Oryol and prepare to rush north again to threaten Moscow from the south (pic 3).

Voronezh Region

Image

The Italians must clear a way toward Voronezh while the Czechs must secure the west of the Don river, in order to maintain a coherent line between french and italian armies.

Ukraine

Image

Image

The Donbass is extremely fortified. It is up to the Greeks and Austrians to push the Russians out of the country. The Ukrainian army, very weakened, regroups in order to support the reconquest of its territory.

Crimea

Image

Crimea is constantly bombed. Considering resolution of NATO, the Russians decide to withdraw. Russian naval air forces in the region, which have been a formidable adversary, were intercepted and destroyed as they redeploying out of the peninsula. NATO gains control of the skies over Crimea.

Syria

Image

Tartus is heavily bombarded by the French fleet. French and Italian paratroopers lead the final assault on the base. The garrison, too shaken, is defeated. In the north of the country, heavy Greek reinforcements - landed the day before - engaged the Russian forces near Aleppo. The French naval aviation begins its redeployment towards the Black Sea.

Russia : Turn 19

Norwegian Sea

Image

Image

Image

A group of submarines, led by the Vladikavkaz, take advantage of the chaos of the battle to go far offshore to threaten NATO support ships in the future (pic 1). The battle itself is coming to an end: the enemy fleets having reorganized and starting a powerful counter-attack, the Russian admirals order a withdrawal so as not to waste their forces unnecessarily (pic 2). The Kuznetov is also preparing to take refuge in the Barents Sea (pic 3).

Scandinavia - North

Image

Image

Image

All troops returned to the east of the Karaskjohka River (pic 1). The battle south of Lake Inarijavi is about to escalate with the arrival of Russian armored reinforcements (pic 2).

Finland

Image

Image

Image

The Russians attack Kajaani in order to block possible reinforcements coming from the North (pic 1). The Russians are moving towards Tampere (pic 2) while the line defending Helsinki is attacked by the Americans (pic 3).

Russia - Northern front

Image

The VVS, which has deployed its best aircraft in Saint-Petersburg and benefits from the support of several AA missile batteries, is gaining the upper hand over NATO air forces which are far too sure of themselves. The fighting is deadly, but it is for NATO that the price is the heaviest. Russia retains control of the skies over Saint-Petersburg.

Road to Moscow

Image

Image

nothing stands between the American forces and Moscow: the battle for the capital of Russia is about to begin (pic 1).

Voronezh region

Image

Too sure of themselves, the Allied air forces lost several aircraft as they approached the Russian anti-aircraft batteries. Voronezh is fortified and many units patrol along the Don to prevent any crossing of the river.

Ukraine

Image

Image

Severodonetsk is fortified to block an attempt to bypass the Donbass from the north (pic 1). To the west of Donestk, a small counter-attack manages to repel the Greek tanks. The Russians intend to make pay every advance into their territory (pic 2).

Crimea

Image

The withdrawal from the peninsula continues under fire from enemy ships.

Syria

Image

The whole coast is lost. The Russians are retreating inland to not allow the capture of valuable equipment.

Belarus

Image

Image

Belarusian partisans riots to push NATO forces out of their country. They quickly come up against strong and unexpected resistance in the North. Minsk was firmly held and the Polish mechanized troops transiting through Mogilev were not taken by surprise despite the unfavorable terrain (pic 1). To the south, however, the partisans find that Pinsk is empty of any garrison (pic 2).

NATO : Turn 19

Norwegian Sea

Image

Image

A group of Russian submarines attempting to circumvent the battle line from the west is detected and immediately engaged by the Dutch navy. The Vladikavkaz is sunk by the frigate Tromps (pic 1). The Russian fleet is finally detected, visibly in the process of retreating towards the East: the allies advance to destroy it (pic 2).

Scandinavia - North

Image

Image

the Scandinavian troops must put themselves in a defensive position while Russian heavy armored vehicles arrive from the East (pic 1). Air reinforcements are requested to counter the Su-24 bombings, but these are concentrated in the North and South of Finland, they will not be able to arrive for several days.

Finland

Image

Image

Image

Kajaani is abandoned (pic 1). In Tampere, the allies were able to regroup around the city (pic 2). The Americans continue to harass the Russian front lines while the Dutch prepare to land west of Vyborg to destabilize the enemy defenses (pic 3). NATO is preparing for a major counter-offensive to liberate the region. In the meantime, the air units withdrew from Saint-Petersburg, which was too well protected.

Russia - Northern front

Image

The British are heading towards Gatchina from the West and the South, with Saint-Petersburg as their final objective. A joint assault with the armies in Finland and the support of the German fleet should make it possible to bring down the city in the shortest possible time. Spaniards and Belgians must continue east to disrupt Russian lines of communication.

Road to Moscow

Image

Image

Image

The German units continue the bypass by the North: Tver, on the Volga, is their next objective before Moscow (pic 1). The Americans, meanwhile, are already reaching the outskirts of the capital. A first shot fired against a Russian rearguard unit marks the beginning of the Battle of Moscow (pic 2). As for the French, they have just captured Oryol and are also about to reach their last objective before Moscow (pic 3). End of air operations in the area due to the numerous anti-aircraft equipment positioned around the capital.

Voronezh region

Image

Beginning of the Battle of Voronezh. The Czechs will ultimately have to block the defenders there. An objective of opportunity appears further south, towards Millerovo. Allied aircraft withdrew to avoid AA defenses.

Millerovo gap

Image

The Ukrainians threaten the North of Severodonetsk. This region being poorly fortified, NATO plans to immediately redeploy the Italian army there in order to rush in and encircle the large Russian army deployed in the Donbass via the city of Millerovo. The Ukrainians, who have lost most of their offensive material, must cover the flank by taking and holding Severodonetsk.

Ukraine

Image

The small Austrian army shakes up the first Russian lines.

Crimea

Image

The first NATO armored vehicles enter Crimea. The fleeing Russian army hurries to flee before being blocked in Kerch.

Syria

Image

Victory in Syria.

Belarus

Image

The threat of the partisans is soon already removed in the North; but the situation is much more worrying near Pinsk. Polish troops are redeployed to the region to contain the Belarusian uprising.
