Pod A (West)
carpenkm (Macedonians) 11% defeats Olddog52 (Hannibal) 49%
The pikes took up a strong position on a hill and despite the valiant efforts of the Carthaginians there was no way through thanks mainly to heroic light cav standing against heavy infantry.
carpenkm 98 pts
Olddog52 11 pts

Pod B (East)
Geffalrus (Antigonids) defeats nyczar (Parthians and Seleucids) 8% - 43%
The map was dominated by a massive and steep hill on one flank, with open ground on the other, and a small lake in the center. No doubt due to our familiarity with each other, we both came up with the same plan: rush the big hill and put our heavy infantry in the open. The Parthians had more mediums and lights to take the hill, but a spirited charge and a few lucky rolls tilted the fight in my favor. In the open, my elephants nullified the Parthian heavy horse while my phalanx got stuck in the with the Seleucid allies. The more maneuverable Antigonid lancers snuck in some key flank attacks and ended the battle before the Cats could come into play. Good game as always to my opponent.
Geffalrus: 60 + 35 (43-8) = 95 points
nyczar: 8 points

Pod B (East)
Geffalrus (Antigonids) defeats frederic02 (Indians) 33-58
Incredibly intense game. Concentrated arrow fire almost obliterated one block of pikes, but the sarissas held firm and charged into melee against the Indian foot. Such eagerness, however, opened gaps in the ranks that the patient elephants could pour into and exploit. By turn 12, we were both sitting at 40% as half my army successfully smashed the medium foot, while the other half was trampled to death under elephant feet. Then the rallies started, for both of us Turn after turn of horns blowing and light cavalry desperately trying to chase them down. Pretty soon we were both magically back to around 25%, and so began a hectic scramble to reorganize our messy lines and attack the weak points of our enemy. The Indians steadily eliminated all my heavy cavalry, while my pikes continued to steamroll isolated elephants and Indian foot. On the very last turn of the game, I managed to rout juuuuuuust enough units to get me to +25%. But it was a near run thing, and had we been using Digital League rules, I probably would have settled for a 2-2 draw 12 turns ago.
Good game to my opponent.

Flockaveli (Sertorius) (53%) 68 points defeats GraftMalt (Thracian) (61%) 53 points
A nailbiter of a game fought over horrific terrain that came down to some lucky rolls and rallies for the Spanish.
Good game and thanks to GraftMalt

Pod C
markleslie (East) Ptolemaic 217-167 BC (38%) 86pts vs random27 (East) Carthaginian (Hannibal in Africa) 202 BC w/Numidian or Moorish 341-56 BC allies(64%) 38pts.
A flat featureless plain with beautiful far horizons promised a story of blood soaked glory and the making of legends.
The Carthaginians, perhaps in response, thinking they might be the heroes of the day, stood their ground and deployed with wide, wide open arms offering a warm embrace. Confident in the length, girth and raw power of our phalanx we accepted this offer and thrust forth!
There followed, thrust, counter thrust, minor setback, scrambling for flanks and the grind. In the end, on that comfortless plain, the big battalions ruled and ate all the chocolates.
