Hail TGM

Ah you old mouse you.

I may be old but I don't believe my great grandfather was alive at that time.

Well glad I could count on you.

As you know we fought over in Iberia for a number of years, as well as agst the Numidians and some Barbarian tribes. I guess that is why they retired us to Carthage as the Punyics used to count those countries as allies.

I think we need to organise the house, a bit more discipline, better information really. Maybe we need to put some more money into the spy network, that allegedly we have running.

As we both know, information and logistics can win battles and without either we will proably lose.

Reminds me of a time, when our supply wagons ahd been ambushed. We were in some mountainous regions near to the Alps. Food was scarce and we were fighting some hill tribes. As you know, it is important to eat and so we did, a horse, ate a leg or was it I ate a legate. Damn can't remember luckily one of my chefs had some various herbs and spices so that helped.

Yes proper organisation is the thing. Maybe one of the young whippersnappers could start molding our spy network into a formidable part of the Republic, will have to look into that.

What bloody bloody, (numerous and far worse expletives).

By the Gods man, I have given up the wine and now you ask me to give up, I prefer the name Ladies of the morning, day, evening and night. You see my needs can vary throughout the day.

The next thing you'll ask is for me to give up this pretty red flower seed, the beer, the numerous orgies (BTW a ticket is on it's way), these relaxing herbs that I smoke in my wonderful pink, purple and fluorescent orange pipe. Before you start to make me really angry (and yes I know about your enjoyment of having a good thrashing, I have allocated a special room for you at the orgy), This is Rome you damn clot. If you start taking away our pleasures in life (some may call them vices), you had best find an island miles away from any know Roman outpost and hide. Yes I have given up the wine and that is sufficient for now (damn your hide). Although with Pontlate appearing in a couple of months, it is my civic duty to taste it and so as to ensure that the population of Rome have an excellent vintage.

Yes we will all look after one another but you really are beginning to annoy me sir. The Republican party. What you expect me to make cakes, fuzzy drinks. It's not a damn party, being a REpublican is being a ruddy Roman

Have no fear, we have engaged the main Gallic host. Their tattoes and homely woman folk indicate they are of the lowlands yet beware, for the Gauls have bribed friendly highlanders to join in the defence of their meager lands. In fact, it appears their are more highlanders than fat lowlanders before us!

Your orders are simple: Spur on B.Agricolae and that rogue HurliusRex to get out of camp and engage, and other than that , win.

I hope they dont think recruiting Syrian horse archers is going to help them in the primeval swamps the Gauls live in. Perhaps I should send them a scroll via carrierbird? Dont they know to march toward the sound of gladius ringing on shield boss?

Cheer up patron Ericus, noone is asking you give up your daily recreations, although the next tale you tell should at least get the geography correct, my atlus proves the Alps are nowhere near Hispania.

Yes you are correct but that was fighting the Barbarian tribes I mentioned. The Iberians would have the Pyrenees, although the Gauls think both mountains are theirs.

I have yet to see a recruitment pitch from all parties, so I am waiting. It would be quite foolish to join the wrong party, yes?

King Burebista's raid using the claim of avenging his purported son has been repulsed by the stalwart defenders of Illyria although at some cost. The raider's ranks included Sarmatian allies so it appears that the Dacians by themselves should be too weak after this bloodletting to pose much threat in the near future.

My Fellow Senators,

It has come to our attention in most recent dispatches from Rome that chaos is rising in our dear city with fighting in the streets. At the same time Fortune has frowned far too frequently on what should be triumphant Roman arms in the field. Resort has even been made to recalling those old and exhasuted generals who had been put out to pasture years ago to spend their decline in a wine besotted haze.

It is time for those who honor our ancestors and the true standards of behavior that made all of Italy under our glorious city's rule and has allowed Roman arms to triumph over the money grubbing Carthaginians and the weak and disorganized Greeks and their toadies, to join with their fellow Aristorcrats to purge Rome of its corruption and to resume adding to the victorious heritage that should be ours. Fortune has smiled on my efforts in Illyria which is a sign that we can indeed achieve far more for Rome's fame and glory than has recently occurred in other theaters.

Well said, Pro-Praetor Batesmotel. The chaos in the streets is most harmful and must be stopped. In fact, back when I was a Tribune, I exerted my influence to create some order in the streets. Alas, I no longer hold that position, for I was granted the duty of a Proconsul. By my former position, I understand the needs of the common people in my heart and I believe it is in their best interest that the Aristocrats are among those who decide how things are to be done. As a born plebeian myself, I will act as the bridge between the esteemed patricians and the common people who form the solid ground upon which Rome stands. I hereby grant my votes for the Aristocratic party.

Turk, the password isn't working for me. Upper case, lower case, singular swordsman or plural, none work.

Suggest that the tournament adopt the universal password cotr

Best,
