Division B
Captainwaltersavage - Portuguese 1200-1319 AD with Berber (Marinid) 1244-1319 AD allies defeats kraff - Ghurid 1100-1215 AD with Indian (Hindu North) 1050-1300 AD allies 53:27
A battle of two halves. The first half was all about the skirmishing. As I hid away from the elephants in the rough ground that was conveniently close to my start position, I was able to win the skirmish quite convincingly. The Portuguese are well provided with light troops. The Ghurid then came against me in force with all the war elephants and the massed spearmen. Luckily for the Portuguese I had enough troops to not only withstand the assault but to win despite the losses inflicted. War elephants are terrifying! Am exciting battle that might have gone a different way. Thanks for the battle!

Pool B Group 3
Kroche (Roman 280-220 BC) defeated deeter (Carthaginian 262-236 BC) 42-15
Both sides lined up to face each other and proceeded to move forward to engagement. Carthaginians suffered disruptions on virtually every first encounter and both elephant units disrupted in sympathy as a neighbouring unit broke. Not much else to say as the Roman's were left to clean up the disrupted units and win the match. Very bad luck for Deeter who had won the initial skirmish between light forces and his cavalry wing was looking like it was about to break through on the Roman right flank.
Latest standings
1. Kroche P3-12pts
2. deeter P3-4pts
3. MarcoCato75 P4-4pts
Kroche qualifies for the semi-finals.

Division D
Kerait (Ghurid) defeats GeneralShapur (Crusader) 44-16
The Ghurids occupied a hill and saw no reason to leave it. The Crusaders needed to be prodded into moving against the advantageous Ghurid position, so the Indian lights swarmed forward to harass the Crusader knights. Slowly whittled down by javelins and forced into action, the Crusader knights moved out to flank the Ghurid line, where the elephants met them.
With the Crusader cavalry gravely embattled, the Crusader infantry line advanced against the Ghurids. There were some striking successes against the Ghurids on the Crusaders' left wing, where some Indian archers and Muslim foot found themselves viciously dislodged from their hill. However, on the whole the Ghurids prevailed against the Crusaders who fought uphill and whose decimated knighthood had lost the oomph it needed to make any breakthroughs.
Good game to General Shapur!

Holien (Beidi - Sixteen Kingdoms 304-439 AD) defeated Delbruck (Chinese (Jin) 317-420 AD) 60-57
The thinest of margins seperated us and a truly epic struggle to the end where it could have gone either way. The Beidi Cavalry just managed to hold on from all the crossbow bolts to do enough damage to swing it in their favour. Excellent game and thanks to my skilled opponent, good luck in your other games.

DanZanzibar (Samnite) defeats SawyerK (Spartan) 57-23
The Spartans needed their theuros on the flanks to hold long enough for the pikes in the center to do their job. Instead, they just imploded under the impact foot onslaught. Good game to my opponent!

Division E
DirtyMark - Teutonic Order 1226-1319 AD (1200) drew with heidipie - Berber (Almohad) 1121-1269 AD (1200) 46-48
Hedgerow hell in the desert. The Berbers made good defensive use of their desert field system with surrounding ditches and hedges. The Teutonic Order cut down the enemy troops outside but lost their raw troops and moved into the hedgerows using the fast follow up of dismounted knights. It is not clear if they do this through remounting their horses or it is a bug with the designer still having mounted troop movement for dismounted troops. The battle ended at nightfall with the Teutonic’s slightly dominant having rallied a knight unit on the last turn which slightly changed the score in the Teutonic's favour with the game claiming victory to the Teutonic Order as the Berbers were forced to leave during the night or face total destruction. Teutonic’s lost 25% of their force with the Berbers only losing 22% but this was vastly more in actual dead.
(2-2)
I have revised the score. Not sure how I messed that up!
