Hello.
At the beginning of the Poland scenario, if I buy a "normal" Bf-109 A1, it costs 270. The same Bf-109 A1 [1] Oesau costs 270. They both have the same statistics and the same price. The "normal" Bf-109 B1 costs 310, the Bf-109 B1 [1] Oesau costs 310 too but has +1 in initiative. I think, and this is only my opinion, that historical fighters, tactical bombers and strategic bombers should cost more to buy and should have better statistics than "normal" aircraft.

Your really busy on that

One of the problems is that in reality many heroes (Pilots) are switching from unit during the war. We can not simulate that with core units.

Installed what I thought correct ie latest Full 0.44 then 0.47 update, do I need intermediate updates as well ?

At the beginning of the Poland scenario, if I buy a "normal" Bf-109 A1, it costs 270. The same Bf-109 A1 [1] Oesau costs 270. They both have the same statistics and the same price. The "normal" Bf-109 B1 costs 310, the Bf-109 B1 [1] Oesau costs 310 too but has +1 in initiative. I think, and this is only my opinion, that historical fighters, tactical bombers and strategic bombers should cost more to buy and should have better statistics than "normal" aircraft.

I agree with you. The different mutations during the war concerning the Generals, the Luftwaffe Commanders, etc., cannot be simulated. Either you add a hero and accept that historical reality is not respected, or you add a "generic" hero. The example that comes to mind is for the Totenkopf: Theodor Eicke. At the start of the Polish scenario, he was at the head of the division but he died in February 1943. So, if you and AKRebel plan scenarios with the Totenkopf after that date, we end up with something that is not historical. You'll have the same problem with Michael Wittmann.

I have looked at that also but it gives some problems. First of all we already had to delete cities from maps because otherwise they would come to close together on the maps. Second all the maps have to be redone then. For gameplay reasons there must be some space between them. If we place towns and Villages between cities the whole map will be City/town/village. For the moment we use more city hexes together to simulate a bigger city.

I agree that some parts of the maps can have more cities on them, I will look at that in the future and add cities.

I keep the idea in mind but for now I leave it like it is. To busy with other aspects of the MOD

Hello everybody,

There is also something to keep in mind while adding new terrains types : movement file. I once tried to add brand new terrains types (I mean actual new entries to the terrain file instead of overwriting existing terrain that would not be used, by example jungles in Europe theater maps).
However the new terrain types have to be specified in the movement file for each type of movement. I'm not 100% sure of that but I got a series of crashes when selecting units with unaccordingly modified movement file; I no longer got crashes after this correction.
I may be wrong but it worked for me, coincidence ?
I hope I don't look like a know it all, because I'm quite low skilled in modding so it would be a sad irony ..

Hello. Discussion with Phcas. Here's what he thinks:
"Heroes are a problem. I think it's fun to see the "real" historical figures (heroes) with their historical units. But the game is messing that up by giving the player random heroes during the game. I also agree it will be nice to have this heroes already in Poland however in reality they first have to become heroes so starting in Poland with a lot of heroes already is not so realistic. For me it's more important that a specific hero is on the right unit than the values of that hero in the game. So the numbers the hero add to the game are limited to 1 already. For example the HQ units have all heroes as much as possible more for historical reasons, just to get the right historical faces by the unit. The values that the hero adds to a HQ unit are useless."

I took a step ahead of your development: I sent to Phcas the Stalingrad oob (Fall Blau) and the Kursk oob. Plus internet links to be as close as possible to the historical reality.
Concerning the German heroes (and those of other nations), I did not find any database with color photos. When you have Google in French, you are a little bit limited *laughters*. But I translate what I want and look at German, English, Italian, Spanish and Russian sites (Google translator is one of my best friends, as is Deepl).
