Kelen you get to a certain age and you see double... I only see him in nine as does everyone else....right guys?
Hmm, these Rebels are more devious than I thought!

May hap' be a sad day in the north for parliament but I'm sure the committee of both kingdoms would charge the gentleman to check his baggage, gather his stragglers and wits, and check the royalist further advance north least the Scot rabble rise up b'twixt the close proximity of the king's men and himself.

I hear they are gathering in the glens... but may be just the games!

Not a sad day for parliament yet - 1 turn left and Royalist losses at 52% and Parliament at 45% but although the Royalist foot except a few musketeers have all left the cavaliers are playing merry hell with the pursuing parliamentary foot who insist on showing flanks and rears. Too tight to call but we have both lost more than 25% and the Lancs army has been very cavalier with the reinforcements from the Sheriff of Nottingham - think you should dock him 25% too.

Well Cavalier by name, cavalier by nature. I just hope my men haven't died in vain!

As for docking me 25% too, nah, I'll easily make up the losses from your 2 counties I've just liberated in the name of the King! :D

One county surely - rule clarification one above. Could have done with those 50 points.

Anyway it is all over. A couple of royalist rallies and another three units routed for me changed it from 45% to 52% = 7% in my favour to 56% to 48% = 8% in Royalist favour and night fell. An excellent nail biter of a game. I got my nose in front early on and took to the woods Doyley took his time for a co-ordinated attack and quality started to tell but the cost was high - Royalist foot ran out of steam and several auto breaks and knock on effects but then those good horse got in amongst my uncovered poor quality foot - now out of the woods.

So to pick the bones out of this - both armies lose more than 25% no outright winner and a pretty costly draw like Newbury I.

So mister campaign manager who goes where and do we have to stay there for powder and repair?

Please note Changes this turn
4 = a losing army retreats to the county it came from, or to a friendly county next to the county the battle was fought. All other situations the retreating army is disbanded.
6= a loss of more than 25% or conceding a battle means the losing army must remain stationary next turn to recover strength.

4th amendment comes into play... since you both lose!...so you both retreat from the border to stay put in your respective counties!)
6th amendment comes into play... so you both cannot move this turn.

PS. I should make the reinforcing army unable to move as well (since part of the battle...but no, not in the rules!).So, I guess you two are fair game this turn

Lord Lieutenant of Dover Castle, member of Parliament for Tunbridge Wells (and former Wobble), former ambassador to the Ottoman Empire, awarded after the BATTLE OF PRESTON, Lord High Protector of the Lancashire Hot-pot

Southern battle to resolve... so if you're not affected post your moves now!

Couple of questions regarding some of the new rules.

1) a force has to hold the county for a turn before claiming it So does that mean that counties only change hands at the end of a turn, (i.e. not as soon as someone moves into them), or does an army have to remain in that county the whole of the following turn too in order to secure it? (and if they don't it reverts back to the previous owner). I can understand counties only changing hands at the end of a turn (and therefore that county would still count for points towards any battle it's owner is fighting elsewhere), but having to remain stationary for a whole turn would appear to be as bad as losing a battle.

4) A losing army retreats to the county it came from, or to a friendly county next to the county the battle was fought. All other situations the retreating army is disbanded. If an army in unable to retreat and is forced to disband, what happens to anyother counties which that player owns, but which they were unable to retreat into? E.G. (and this is purely theorectical)

Seaport remains stationary in 49 (having consumed too much pochin)
K2 moves by flying column from 40 via 47 & 46 (not sure if 40 & 46 are connected) into 48. Under the new rules only the last county (48) is captured
Damatrois moves by normal move from 42 via 44 and attacks Seaport in 49 (armies now being able to move 2 counties as long as the first county is friendly), and being the better General, is victorious despite being outnumbered!
Seaport cannot retreat and will therefore disband

What happens to his other counties 45, 46 & 47? Do they revert back to neutral, and one of Seaports allies will have to cede him one of their own counties in order for him to remain in the campaign, or can Seaport simply choose which of his remaining counties his forms a new army in?

6) a loss of more than 25% or conceding a battle means the losing army must remain stationary next turn to recover strength a) So that is a loss of 26% or more then? b) If a player has been forced to form a new army after disbanding (due to losing all of their counties, or not having an adjacent friendly county to retreat), do they also have to remain stationary for a turn? To me that would make sense as it'll take time to raise the new army, but technically this is a 'new' army. (i.e not the one that suffered the losses of 26% or more in order to have lost the previous battle and end up in this situation!)

Changes hands at the end of a turn after battles but before next cycle moves , the army disbands but he retains his counties (there is no provision for his other counties being forfeit), the new army is positioned randomly if more than one county and it remains stationary the following turn but not cumulative (25% loss and disbandment) should read 25% or more..... I'll include these clarifications in this cycles rule updates Kelen.

The battle in the south has been another rebel victory. My Cornish men have withdrawn to Devon to regroup, while Kerry's very battered army has advanced to secure the county but will also halt for a full turn to rebuild and regroup. Kerry and I are both on holiday for three weeks, he from Friday, I from the 26th. So we have agreed to not participate in the next move, our armies remaining in their current positions. God save good king Charles. May god bless good queen Henrietta and all who sail in her

Sorry GDod, another rules question I'm afraid.

If armies are stationary and rebuilding due to losing 25% or more in the previous turn, can they still provide reinforcement to a battle happening in an adjacent county? I can personally see arguments either way.

Hi Gavin,

Hopefully not discombobulated by my recent honours after Preston - Can I ask; under the new rule change why is Co Durham now yellow?
Kelen's raiders passed through but did not stay for one turn - does this not mean it is still blue?
Parliament just fought 1300Royalist - 1050Parliament but I thought you had later recalculated Parliament should have been at 1100 for this very reason.

There is a fine hot pot, with optional red cabbage side,in it for the right answer.
Otherwise it is just 'Blind Scouse' and straight to bed young man!

The new rules changes didn't come into affect until this turn, and if you look back GDod admitted he gave the wrong figure and confirmed 1050pts.

Gavin,

the map is wrong, Kerry beat me in the battle and therefore has advanced into and captured 21 Somerset.

ALAS and ALAC' POOR DEVEREAUX TWAS TWICE DEFEATED (at Field and Table) RELOADED by the Battle Bard of Bath, a Shakespearan Spector of Soliloquy and future poets of prominence
Retitled ALAS and ALAC' POOR DEVEREAUX TWAS THRICE DEFEATED (at Field and Table and whilst picnic-king at Studley Green)

The saga so far...

Oh Devereaux no plate or port... where for art tho
Where oh where can the plate have gone-o
Yet,do not fear my wife-o
I shall search the wenches bed chambers hi and lo
Under bed, blouse and skirt and chamber po
So ye hath need no fear-o
and ye need not shed a tear-o
for my duty is clear and away I must go

But wait dear husband of mine
Did ye not see the wayward wenches badly writ sign
They hath gone north of the far river Tyne
Ther' to dally and tease wit thou landed Grandees so fine
With Parlement men to dance and gluttonously dine
Pouring in liberal display all your rich porter wine

***New***

Ye hath told me of paradise lost twice my dear
so pack a ham 'n porte and shed not a tear
for away once more by call of King I fear
sustenance for the heavy burden I must bear
on Studley Green with angry common man

But wait dear husband so kind
I fear the thrice defeated you will undoubtedly find
Whilst at lunch I fear they may already have dined
Your plan unraveled to entirely unwind
on Studley Green with angry common man

So pack a stout fill o' cornish pastie
If shameful thrice defeat it has-to-be
with stomach content ye may run fast-to-me
cause Kings command will undoubtedly be past-to-me
an' ye have dinner 'n dishes 'n clothes to clean!
