Willing to end the battle fast, the Frankish side charged carelessly up a gentle hill with the best troops in the center leading the shieldwall, while the lancer cavalry concentrated on one side to threaten the enemy left, in the hope of hindering enemy movement.
The following clash was brutal and obstructed by the uneasy terrain, but finally the Franks gained the upper hand, not without severe casualties inflicted by the enemy horse archers.

The relegation issue is the main focus in Division A now where Challenge1 (Hannibal in Africa) needs 3 points from his last match against klayeckles (Ptolemaic) to avoid the drop and send Morbio (Samnite) down. nyczar (Hannibal in Italy) can take third place if he beats klayeckles 4-0 in his last match. hidde (Hannibal in Italy) has won automatic promotion from Division B after posting a seventh win. Aetius39 (Lysimachid) has finished second. At the bottom, batesmotel (Bosporan) needs 2 points from 4 matches to relegate rexhurley (Syracusan). In Division C 3 wins for snooky51 (Roman) this week means that he has finished in third place. TomoeGozen (Achaemenid Persian) is relegated. In Division D tmac11 (Samnite) narrowly lost his last match so joggy (Pyrrhic) has finished in second place. deeter (Seleucid) is relegated after picking up only 1 point from his last 6 matches. In a thrilling finale to Division E, MarcoCato75 (Seleucid) recovered from successive defeats to win promotion by beating Kroche (also Seleucid) to finish 1 point ahead of runner-up DocVanNostrand (Graeco-Bactrian). In Division F Jack-3kBattery needs to win his last 3 matches with maximum points to pip ray552 (Galatian) to the automatic promotion place. At the other end of the table, LindsayCole (Macedonian) needs 5 points from his last 3 matches to leave olddog52 (Thessalian) with the wooden spoon.

Weekly round-up
A fifth defeat means that batesmotel (German Horse Tribes) is now 7 points adrift at the bottom of Division A with 4 matches left to complete. The match with fellow struggler ConstantinIX (Byzantine) will decide the issue. 3 wins for IMC (Arab City) has moved him right out of the relegation zone leaving kraff (Sassanid) and lydianed (Palmyran) to fight it out in the very last match of the season. A draw will suit lydianed, kraff must win to stay up. Another win for snooky51 (Parthian) in Division C has moved him into second place still 12 points behind the leader Malabar26 (Byzantine). However, snooky51 and Malabar26 still have to complete their match together and a 4-0 win for snooky51 would mean he could still take the automatic promotion place if he backed that result up with 2 more 4-0 wins in his other remaining matches against Conteshard (Bosporan) and Ironclad (Kingdom of Soissons). On the other hand, Ironclad must get a 3 point win in that match to avoid relegation and send tmac11 (Palmyran) down. There is also an exciting finish in Division D where sarmation (Sassanid) has moved to within 2 points of leader Kerait (Moorish). sarmation now needs 3 points from his last match against Barrold713 (Ancient British) to win automatic promotion. bomber23 (Dacian) is relegated after losing to MarcoCato75 (Roman). There is nothing to report from Division E this week.

tyronec (Anglo-Saxon) has finished third in Division A after registering his eighth win of the season leaving Cunningcairn (Frankish) Cunningcairn in deep relegation trouble along with XLegione (Dailami), Challenge1 (Viking Ireland) and Questar17 (Byzantine). A sixth win for Nijis (Khorasanian) has moved him into second place in Division B ahead of IMC (Arab Umayyad). IMC can reclaim the position if he gets at least 2 points from his last match against Karvon (Arab Conquest). There are still 4 players involved in the relegation battle as we enter the last week of the season kraff (Bulgar Danube) still has to complete matches against lunecastle (Scots) and ulysisgrunt (German) and lunecastle and ulysisgrunt are also currently playing each other. Blagrot (Arab Conquest) has won automatic promotion from Division C despite narrowly losing his last match to General Shapur (Norman) because his main challenger snooky51 (Rus) lost to Ironclad (Frankish) in his last match. Morat (French) can still equal Blagrot's points total, but he lost the match against him earlier in the season. deeter (Byzantine) is relegated after losing to snooky51. In Division D Giacofa93 (Frankish) completed a magnificent 36 point maximum with a win against Barrold713 (Rus), while ilpars (Turkish) completed a good first season with a sixth win to finish third. It is still mathematically possible for any of 5 players to finish in the wooden spoon position.
