Division F
Giacofa93 (Syracusan) defeats Herode_2 (Pyrrhic) 55-18
____
The Syracusans delayed the clash with the enemy pike line as much as possible, using their missile superiority to thin out and weaken the pike formations. After the melee started, the Syracusan achieved local superiority against some units of pike, isolating and finally defeating them
Thanks to Herode for a really good game, the final percentages don't show how hard-fought this was!

SawyerK with the downhill Arabs lost by 62 to 41 to bomber23.
Position on the field was a huge determinant in the Arab vs. Arab matches.

Division D for Dynamic
Barrold713 (Ancient British) defeats Kerait (Moorish) 60-52
The annoying swarms of lights almost took the day but the contingent of chariots chased enough of them into melee to eek out the win.

Division B
Geffalrus (Tuareg) defeats Karvon (Free Cantons) 51-25 on the very last turn of the match.
Map generation didn't look great for me when I saw a GIANT enclosure on Karvon's side of the map. I just knew that Karvon's horde of spearmen was never going to leave the warmth and safety of the Great Fortress, so I mentally prepared myself for 24 turns of rude gestures exchanged at a distance. But then I noticed that Karvon's skirmishers appeared to have lost their entrance tickets, and were sadly marooned outside the Great Fence. I sauntered over with 3/4s of my army and murdered most of them while Karvon's spearmen sipped some tea and played backgammon. Killing the skirms, however, meant that my small force of javelins could waltz right up to Festung Deserta and chuck spears unmolested. Slowly but surely, the free spears melted under the concentrated javelin volleys. And whenever a spear failed a cohesion test, they were subsequently charged by angry Tuareg foot. It ended up taking all 24 turns, but by the time night fell, the Tuareg horde had forced a change of ownership on Hotel Sahara.
Good game Karvon.

Re: Last call for mr cholo . . .
Still nothing. I am going to wait until the end of tomorrow (Wednesday), but if I have had no contact by then I will replace mr cholo with Questar17. The tournament comes first, and if I am not confident that a player will be able to finish their matches on time, I think it is incumbent on me to take positive action to remedy the situation.

Division D
Captainwaltersavage - Achaemenid Persian 480-461 BC with Greek 680-461 BC allies defeats random27 - Galatian 62-25 BC with Roman 105-25 BC allies 52:26
The centre of the battlefield was occupied by a hilly area next to marshes. I broke the first rule of warfare and split my forces. The Galatians and Romans went for a flanking move on my right that forced me to retreat and ganged up on the Armoured hoplites I left in my centre as my right flank sloped back. The Galatian right flank then cut back into the centre to flank my troops facing to my right flank. The hoplites were magnificent and held on against multiple flanking attackers and kept rallying to stay in the fight. Meanwhile the arrows of the Persian foot soldiers had devastated the Galatians and weakened them enough to cause disruptions, fragmentations and opened enough gaps for the remaining hoplites to do some damage. My medium troops spent a lot of time hiding in the marshes to stop them being overwhelmed by the Galatian warbands and the fights lasted long enough for my reserves to get into position. Despite lots of rallies by the Galatians The Persians had victory in their grasp after their warbands started breaking from missile fire. A very exciting game that could have gone very differently if not for the Hoplite stand in the centre, they broke eventually but slowed the Galatians and weakened them enough for victory to go my way.

Re: Last call for mr cholo . . .
Good. I had a look at our game and he did mention that. Wondering if there is a shopping centre etc nearby that has a good wifi system, hot spots or something similar? If he cannot continue, would I need to refight my battle vs Questar?
