If you still have room, I'd like to volunteer to play and help out GMing if needed!

Welcome all new recruits, you will enjoy crucifying these Germanic cowards. Especially that gob piece Land marine, he spouts a lot but when it comes down to the battlefield he is left somewhat lacking.

You call that feeble handbag slapping a 'ripping apart', don't make me laugh you girl.
Considering I've rendered your mighty panthers as mere kitten and danced like a ballerina around your pathetic arty strike, I'd say my boys have performed impeccably, and yes we stay in Caen, so much for all the bravado of your pathetic rabble going to drive us from ground, you have merely claimed a solitary flag (dependant on your last surge), but at what cost, my orders were to inflict damage, but instead I have not only held on but embarrassed your commanding of an armour unit, if I was your GM I would never trust you to general any BG with armour units as you simply do not possess the tactical nouse to use them correctly. Now back to the drawing board and hopefully next time someone with abit more guile and guts will face the marauding Brits in your place.
You are an embarrassment to the uniform, I believe your ticket to the Eastern front is already in the post.
Long live the queen!!!!!

On June 13th 1944 German forces march into a now occupied Caen! Seems PDaddy forgot my quote "I don't leave VPs un defended" on the last turn Waffen SS captured the port ending the Caen engaments..... German Forces now occupy Caen!
Seems the "impregnable Fortress of Caen" has been dealt with once and for all! But taking Caen is one thing, holding it is another.....
But now with their BG about to be dissolved..... It's time the Panzer start their engines...... We're going to take a drive to the beaches of Gold Juno and Sword.....
Now JCB how many times have we told you not to give newbies Caen or else this will happen..... Had you been in charge I wouldn't have made it past the Bridges
I've kept my promise to High Kommandmant Cavehobbit of not only keeping losses to a minimal, but inflicting heavy losses on the Allies and capturing Caen!
I assume my name will go up in history as I've done the impossible...... I defeated a Paratrooper BG using only an armored one...... I heard PDaddy will spend the rest of his carrier in Italy as he will now be a jeep jockey driving around privates.....

Re: GJS'44 - D-Day - June 11th - Battles raging
I need something clarified - has my BG been dissolved due to your point score, if so I'm not happy. I would have put my croc on the flag and with the smoke cover to the north you would not have taken it, as even if you would have destroyed the croc it would have been better than being dissolved anyway.
I had more forces reserved which I could have thrown into the port flag defence but assumed with me holding st Claire and the fort I would maintain a presence in Caen.
This said though I still maintain you are an absolute embarrassment to your furher, with the forces at your disposal to only attack on one front showed a complete lack of any tactical ability - I believed you would make a far more superior opponent than the one I faced.
I look forward to our next battle, now I'm aware of your feeble abilities it should be like taking candy from a baby retaking Caen from your grasp.

I'm glad to destroy more Allied BGS if you want
May I ask how did you let 1 SS unit past your Crocodile? Any regular commander would have know to ALWAYS have something on the flag! Had you placed a Bren Carrier there I would have lost but alas you let a bunch of Panzers beat the living Crap out of your "Elite" BG. What a bore I expected more smarts from an Allied Commander! At this point the French don't believe France will ever be liberated! I look forward for your meaning less insult because your argument become invalid with these numbers.
Germans 3 Allies 2
I'm very disappointed in you. I attacked with some 5 or 6 infantry and you killed 2 scouts and allowed full strength SS to sneak around your lines. In return I killed Commandoes, MGs, mortars and scouts with so much more about to be lost to the Glorious men of the Luftwaffe and gunners of the Artillery guns. While you missed every salvo, the only one hitting anything didn't even leave a lasting impact!
If this is what the "best" the Allies have to offer, taking back all our lost ground should be easy!

As you well know, if I had been informed that I would be dissolved by losing that flag, considering I had Piat, 17pdrs a croc and my wasp sitting there you know you would have been defeated, but
Ike I said now I know your tactical limitations i can guarantee a leather ing the next time we meet.
Now I'm off to hang my head in shame, my novice-ness at the rules has meant I failed and gave Hitlers jumped up pimple poser bragging rights.

You keep saying I'm "tactically idiotic" but do you really expect me to have my Panthers charging through a city? This way I don't lose anything and they inflict heavier losses (like during the battle) but with the city in my Hands, my Panzers will have fun in the open fields of Caen
I'll make sure you don't get as far as I did!
PS asky Corey about Abbaye and you'll know I'm more than tactically capable!
PPS happy one year anniversay! So far it been exactly 1 Week of fighting over the span of Year in IRL. I hope we get to the 30th before Nov 2014

Good fighting both of you!
I think it is important that you report who holds which flags. Just holding three flags doesn't mean automatic victory (3+3+1). The winner should hold at least 9VP (which normally is 5+3+1). So what are the flags worth that you are holding?

Re: GJS'44 - D-Day - June 11th - Battles raging
Hi,
All action in and around Caen this round is very complex, but I and Jcb have had this sorted out before any battles ended. What will happened now is that 6AL/6 will withdraw to Cagny, the only free sector, i.e. the BG will not be dissolved. It would have been dissolved if all flags had been captured by the Germans.
As I/12/12SS won in Caen it will now face 44/15 in a ME battle.
If I/3/2Pz defeat 9/3Cdn in Tilly then 9/3Cdn will be dissolved. 6AL/6 withdraws to Cagny because it was involved in a battle with higher order priority.
As 5AL/6 according to the order list moved before I/12/12SS, 5AL/6 was able to move to the east side of Caen before the AM battle in Caen. But we're still waiting for the battle in Bois to finish, then we know what will happen to 914/352, 26/12SS and 5AL/6.
As you can see the situation is complicated, but be assure Jcb and I got it all under control
I will update the OOB and Strat map today. I will also prepare the PM battle in Caen, and update the scripts to follow all the new games. I had lazily just copied an old Caen battle for the AM battle without checking the scripts, sorry…
Cheers,
P-A

Re: GJS'44 - D-Day - June 11th - Battles raging
Many thanks P-A.
Just to clarify, I finished with 2 flags (5+3) but under that ruling if I had held the port and finished with 5+3+3 then landmarines beloved panther group would have been dissolved as I would have scored over the 9 points or would it just have retreated to the square it came from.
And come now Mr Marine, considering you were one 'lucky' move away from defeat which I could easily have prevented, I would say that yes I am right in saying you are tactically lacking, no tactically astute general puts all their eggs in one basket, especially when that basket was already overflowing with allies. Afterall it seemed strange at the end how the croc did not fire, or the smoke landed in exactly the spot where you needed it, how you could see my scout unit even without any unit in its vicinity, but I suppose these events can be put down to luck, you hear that, luck is how you snatched victory, and what distinguished general would ever rely on luck or for that matter claim he inflicted a resounding defeat simply under these conditions. And the one thing you forget is you must now defend Caen with your beloved scouts missing, that blindness is an advantage the allies BG will take advantage of, especially in the narrow streets of Caen. And as you stated your Panzers will have a field day in the fields of Caen, those very same fields you didn't even venture into during our battle, I wonder why!!!!!!!
And I would never put tactically and idiotic together - tactically lacking and definitely idiotic, but not tactically idiotic as that would concur that you make stupid tactical decisions, whereas you lack the ability to make any tactical decisions, it's almost like playing chess with a draughts champion, you simply get overwhelmed at the pieces at your disposal.
It would appear the allies counter espionage techniques paid off in this one as it seems strange to allies HQ how you didn't even send a recon group down to the fort, considering their was only an infantry unit and engineer unt keeping watch down there on the strength of the 'fake' recon pictures issued at the start of battle.
I believe from this day forward the tide of battle has definitely turned in the allied forces favour, for all the pomp and pume that bellows from the German camp, the allies have strengthened in number, in spirit and in experience and all the German have is false self proclamation. One by one we shall crush the apparent might of the German war machine until all that is left are the burning ashes of the Third Reich.
On a better note, and banter side aside, it was a damn fine hard fought battle from both sides, now I have discovered my BG survives to tackle yet another mighty armour group, the bitter taste of an unacceptable defeat has gone and I do congratulate you in stealing the victory at the death.
Awaiting MLazar to resume play at Bois and will hopefully conclude today.

Re: GJS'44 - D-Day - June 11th - Battles raging
As I told earlier, Jcb and I discussed the situation before any battles were played what would happen to all BGs directly or indirectly depending on what happens in the Caen battles. Sadly we did not communicate this to you all. But what we agreed upon was to avoid BGs to be dissolved as far as it is possible. And therefore LM's SS BG would not have been dissolved if you'd won. It would have (and will if defeated in the AM battle) withdrawn to Carpiquet if being defeated as it has higher order priority than the mech inf Lehr BG and no Allies BGs are involved in moving into Carpiquet.protectivedaddy wrote:Just to clarify, I finished with 2 flags (5+3) but under that ruling if I had held the port and finished with 5+3+3 then landmarines beloved panther group would have been dissolved as I would have scored over the 9 points or would it just have retreated to the square it came from.
Don't know if this clarifies the situation, but I hope so

Once again sorry we did not communicated this to you all.

Under normal battle rulings, if I had been victorious by claiming the 9 points would it (under normal circumstances) have dissolved his armour BG.

No, you need to capture all flags to dissolve you opponents BG even if there are free sectors to withdraw to.protectivedaddy wrote:Under normal battle rulings, if I had been victorious by claiming the 9 points would it (under normal circumstances) have dissolved his armour BG.
7.7 The victor holds the most VP points at the end of the battle, and takes or holds the sector that was fought over.
7.71 If the loser does not hold any flags (or at least two flags for Allies landing on beaches) at the end, the losing BG is dissolved.
7.72 If both sides hold the same number of VP points, the defender is considered the victor.
7.73 If both sides hold the same number of VP points at the end of an ME battle, both sides must withdraw.
7.74 Withdrawing BGs are moved to an empty neighbouring sector already controlled by their side. The direction of withdrawal is determined randomly by dice throw and will be reported by the GM. The chances are weighted as follows: Withdrawal directly opposite the approach of the attacking unit, 6 chances, Withdrawal diagonally away from the approach of the attacking unit, 2x 2 chances; Withdrawal to the side of the approach of the attacking unit, 2x 1 chance. Units are not permitted to withdraw towards the attacking unit, even diagonally.
7.75 If there are no empty neighbouring sectors already controlled by the loser's side, for that BG to withdraw into, or if the loser's forces are annihilated during the battle (ie. zero units remain), then that BG is dissolved.

Got it, many thanks again P-A, so there is no 9 point rule, that is simply for who is victorious in battle.

Re: GJS'44 - D-Day - June 11th - Battles raging
Tisk Tisk Tisk PDaddy! Why do you continue to under estimate my troops? Trust me I know what to do now that Caen is mine. In fact I have an opening reception prepared for any Allied forces that enter the vicinity
.
If JCB is dumb enough to send you in command of another BG (that will probably be mauled by my beloved Panthers) trust me my tanks won't be sitting around. To be honest I hated that tactic, because as you say it makes me look like I don't know what the hell I'm doing. But it was necessary to ensure my victory on the last turn. This time expect my tanks to be in a more active position this time around. And trust me I won't make the mistakes you made defending here. Seems my training with my fellow commanders payed off! In fact had they been in command of Caen, they would have mauled me! In fact I was out right laughing when I won here, knowing the lack of effort, you depended entirely on your Mortars and Crocodiles, whilst I depended on my tanks infantry and support.
This "Elite" BG was only able to kill 2 scouts of a PANZER BG while I was able to kill most of your conventional infantry. Even the Commandoes weren't able to fire a shot before we killed them.
Either way I'm looking forward to mauling yet another Allied BG! On the 14th with Caen on our hands, the Allies won't have a place to ferry their Army, and we can begin the road to victory! Next time try to put some effort into it please? Or better yet let some else take command of the BGs. I've fought Corey twice and in both battles he's putting up a mighty resistance until the very end. Whilst you is another story, a very boring and dull one that sits in the back of the shelf, never to be read!
While you use propaganda to defend yourself I have something better. Statistics, and according to them my BG only lost scouts compared to your infantry. I was also able to simply sneak past your crocodile with an extremely lucky smoke round, and how I knew your scout was there? I saw him move in there last turn!
And I don't put all my faith on luck. I gamble, and the Caen gamble paid off! While you sir put your faith in your strongest units, which in the end did not help at all! Instead they in turn allowed the weaker (and more important) infantry to be all but destroyed!
And PS I still have a Puma so I'm not completely blind, while you on the other hand are blind! On the 14th expect my troops to come and finish the job
not so big and bad without Caen are you?
