A well-executed Danish attack caught the Germans crossing a difficult stream which made for an interesting and different game. The battle was closer than the score indicates. The German commander has resolved to be less aggressive when facing bad terrain.

The game ended at the last good moment for me. The second big wave of Scots was coming at my tired left wing.

Brenmusik (Scots 1162-1319AD) beat wmpryor (English 1155-1271AD) 41-6
The only luck was with the Scots. An early battle two unit double drop - same flank, same turn - didn't do the English any favours!

Captainwaltersavage - Roman 199-106 BC (1600) defeats rs2excelsior - Latin 490-338 BC with Gallic 390-301 BC allies (1600) 48:10
A battle of two halves this one. Initially we both stood on our respective hills and let the skirmishers fight it out. We both took some losses but the superiority of the velites swung the balance - plus I put some hastati into the battle on the right flank and some cavalry helped out on the left centre. Eventually I got a little braver and edged down from my hilltop safety and then the Gallic warbands facing my right flank had a go at the annoying skirmishers in front of them, and scampered after them down their hill. It was an opportunity too good for me to miss and the legions were let loose. It went very poorly for the hoplites and the warbands in their first contact with the veteran legions and the Hastati. The first rank of hoplites, in the centre, were driven back disrupted to be replaced by another rank who suffered equal rough handling and then there was a chain rout of the hoplites. The centre of the Latin formation fell apart while my flanks were held in place by troops on hills. The impact troops showed their worth in this one. Plaudits go to the skirmishers in this one for winning the skirmish battle and then annoying the enemy enough to create some openings, though it was the legions that won the day.

angel42052 - Lydian 687-571 BC with Greek 680-461 BC allies defeats SawyerK - Assyrian 681-609 BC 63-36
Both of us won as the Lydians, SawyerK lost as the Assyrian (which was my army choice) due to, I suspect, the Assyrians are the far weaker opponent compared to the Lydians.

My opponent had terrible luck with his elephants, otherwise the game would have been a lot closer than it was. He is a competent & meticulous player - beware.

Captainwaltersavage - Bohemian 1155-1199 AD (1600) defeats olin0111 - Russian 1155-1264 AD with Polish 1200-1319 AD allies (1200) 41:14
I'm not sure how I won this one. It seemed that the Russian cavalry was everywhere and my archers and crossbows were never quite in the right place. I think the infantry won this for me with their dogged defence and some lucky push backs and subsequently flanks opening up. The knights did well but I never felt like I had a plan that was working. I think the score does a disservice to my opponent who kept me off balance the whole time. I think RNG was my saviour on this one.

Morat (Polish/German) beat Darkwater247 (Scots) 42-3
A game where nothing went right for the Scots. I have to say that I think that they set up better than the Poles, looking to exploit broken ground on a central ridge, and tying their spears to a mountain on the left. But once battle started, they had no luck at all. Commanders died on contact and a couple of Polish cavalry units managed to wreak havoc with multiple routs.
Many thanks to Darkwater for the game.
