Seelow Heights v. 0.9 (continued)

Let's deal with other aspects of this trigger. I don't have to test this to know that it's too long for the Event Popup message title; something shorter is called for:

Speaking of whom, I gather Herr Generalfeldmarschall Habermann is fictional? I could find no references to him except in Panzer Corps threads. :) The reason I went searching is because there is no "habermann" image in the folder. My search did turn up this photo of a SdKfz 222 with a German officer in view; I'm not sure of the officer's uniform and rank insignia, and it's a re-enactment photo that I turned black and white, but not bad, eh? Yet, you may have something else in mind:

The "T9 air" and "T10 air" triggers fail to "Change Income" by +10 and +3 respectively (+1 for each of four units) as is your usual custom.

Thread to be continued . . .

Your image is too clear for an old photo. Additional filters should be added.

Berlin v. 0.9

This is without a doubt the most ominous scenario preview that I have ever seen!

Somehow, it's even more ominous-looking when viewed in this smaller window:

I shudder to think of playing this one!

So instead, I will merely sweep it. For now. :)

Only two orphans; not bad, considering that multitude:

Berlin v. 0.9 (continued)

Briefing recommendation: "Welcome to Berlin, Herr General. This time there are no parades to watch, or medals to be awarded, or parties to attend while your troops enjoy their leave." (avoids using the word "attend" twice in the same sentence)

Major/Minor Defeat outcome: "Your defense of homeland was valiant, but ultimately futile before the might of Mother Russia!"

If the objective is to "Keep all Waffen SS units alive," then this objective fail trigger is in error. I believe you want "Unit Status = Destroyed" and "Amount > 0":

Screenshot 4.jpg
Screenshot 4.jpg (207.55 KiB) Viewed 1545 times

This is also a problem; how are you calculating "Amount = 5"? Are you basing that somehow on 29 land command CP's for the Waffen SS? Rather imprecise, I'd say. The player could maximize those 29 CP's but 5 units must average 5.8 CP's per unit for this trigger to work in that case; he'd probably have more like 8 Waffen SS units deployed. Instead, I would go with "Unit Status = Destroyed" and "Amount = 0":

Note: Every one of the Soviet "Setup AI Team" triggers is set for Turn = 14. Intentional?

Berlin Redux v 0.9 (continued)

This is an interesting objective; one that I have not seen you use before: "Capture/eliminate 3 Soviet Generals." (You fail to name the third general in the mission description, Mikhail Katukov.)

Screenshot 10.jpg
Screenshot 10.jpg (178.33 KiB) Viewed 1533 times

So this will be an entire post just about this trigger:

Screenshot 18.jpg
Screenshot 18.jpg (227.03 KiB) Viewed 1530 times

First, do you know for certain that the recovering/wounded/imprisoned module works for AI commanders? When an AI unit with a commander is eliminated, does the commander retire from the battlefield under one of those prohibitions for a set time, to be redeployed upon recovery? Because, unless you are definite, I would tend to think not.

For one thing, your condition chooses only recovering. Are there not some times when commanders are wounded or imprisoned? Also, to my knowledge, the AI does not do such things as redeployment of units or commanders without being told explicitly.

Another problem with this trigger is this: Say the recovering/wounded/imprisoned module does work with these conditions for the AI, including redeployment upon recovery. Even so, the trigger is looking for all three generals to be knocked out at the same time and if each does recover and gets reassigned after a while, it is going to be a bit difficult to satisfy all three conditions at once.

You may have better knowledge than me in this regard. If so, I am quite willing to accede.

However, unless you are sure this works, I would handle it differently. I would still go after the generals but target the vehicles to which you have assigned them. Once all three of those vehicles are knocked out, those units are not coming back and when the third vehicle is destroyed, the trigger fires.

Here's how I set it up, linking to each of the three generals' vehicles:

Screenshot 12.jpg (211.03 KiB) Viewed 1533 times
Screenshot 13.jpg
Screenshot 13.jpg (215.41 KiB) Viewed 1533 times

Also, the image file named "chukov" is missing. I assume you mean "zhukov" unless you are spelling the name phonetically or have some Spanish-Russian hybrid in mind. :)

Therefore, I have taken the liberty of offering this resized and black-and-white version of General Zhukov:

zhukov.png
zhukov.png (159.67 KiB) Viewed 1533 times

This is how the image would look in the Event Popup message:

Screenshot 14.jpg
Screenshot 14.jpg (150.42 KiB) Viewed 1533 times

Lastly, you need a trigger to fail the "Capture/eliminate 3 Soviet Generals" objective if it is not achieved by the "Scenario turn limit." This is what I did:

Many changes, I know. In light of that, and since I did those changes on a fresh copy of Berlin Redux and saved it, I offer it to you if you wish to use it. It contains only the changes discussed in this post (and the next post):

Berlin Redux v 0.9 (continued)

Heck, I'm excited enough about this to offer a bit more. There is no tracking of progress toward the "Capture/eliminate 3 Soviet Generals" with either your original trigger or my alternative. So I thought we could have three secondary objectives to do the job:

Berlin Redux v 0.9 (continued)

So, back to your original scenario. (Don't forget the three orphans that I mentioned above if you choose to download and use that revised scenario file.)

Major/Minor Defeat/Draw outcome: "Your defense of homeland was valiant, but ultimately futile before the might of Mother Russia!"

The German mission is to "Hold all 6 objectives at scenario end." All the Soviets need to do to make the Germans fail is to hold one objective at scenario end. Therefore, the AI objective should be "1 obj," the trigger should be named "Sov 1 obj," and it should be set for "Value > 0":

Screenshot 21.jpg
Screenshot 21.jpg (213.93 KiB) Viewed 1521 times

I'm not sure about this one, only because Soviet units are exiting as well as being destroyed. If the last unit exits instead of being destroyed, technically this trigger will not fire:

Screenshot 22.jpg
Screenshot 22.jpg (220.05 KiB) Viewed 1521 times

Also, when enemy units exit, aren't they still considered "Alive"? I'm not sure about that, so I would advise that you do this trigger in this manner:

Screenshot 23.jpg
Screenshot 23.jpg (225.07 KiB) Viewed 1521 times

This CSI sweep is complete. I would say "Onward to bigger and better things" but there may not be anything bigger and better than this! So I will just say "Onward to other things."
