The Christian Nubian camels are not terrible, they are just mediocre.

Consider them attacking Ghilman types in impact (we'll ignore shooting on the way in, which is all bad for the camels...)

They get a +POA for the light spears and they disorder the Ghilman on impact so the Camels fight the impact at 4 dice to 3 with a POA, so the camels put ou 1 hit per frontage vs 0.5 for the Ghilman, which is a prett solid. A 4BG v 4 BG contact should have the Camels winning 2 hits to 1 hit (or so ignoring the extra 1/6th of a hit the Ghilman get for being superior) forcing the Ghilman to test morale at -2.

Melee is less good for the camels as they are down two POA in melee, but the Ghilman are still down a die. So the Ghilman roll 3 dice and average 2 hits (ok 2 and 1/3rd hits with superior) vs the Camels 1 1/3 hits.

This probably means the Ghilman win any straight up 4 element BG vs 4 element BG fight, but then the Camels cost just under half the AP of the Ghilman so if you can arrange to make the numbers work for you the camels they can win out (and assuming you don't get blown to bits on the way in...).
