Fantastic report,Very good photos, Excellent indicators on photos.
I am well impressed with this Lawrence.
Only problem is that I cannot see Edward Woodward (A Wargamer to my knowledge) Inside the Wickerman in his Police uniform.
(Wonders if Lawrence knew of Edward Woodward`s Wargame connection when he made the Wickerman?)

The Tournament Dinner on Saturday night was very good too.hammy wrote:I have to admit that this part of the report really made me wish I had made the effort to attend the event.timmy1 wrote:Great pictures, great description but most of all what a great place to play toy soldiers!
'Among the advantages of the venue were cheap accommodation in a barrack block and drinks from the bar served by uniformed waiters to your table during the games.'
Saves wasting drinking time by going to the bar. Maybe that had something to do with the games slowing down...
Altogether the entry fee, 2 nights B&B and all food and drink came to about 65 Euros for me.

Hey Lawrence,
what a great report.
Unfortunatelly, we didn't meet on the field, my Swiss army would have loved to play with your nice britsh army
Overall, this tournament was a great success, we had lots of real good games (and I again learned lots of new rules, as usual)
As I'm organizing the next big german FOG-tournament in Germany in May, I will use this forum now as well for posting the invite and I expect at least the same number of players that we had in Berlin/Potsdam.

In my experience more people (even wargamers) mention Britt Eckland getting her kit off in this context than Edward Woodward. I was not aware that he was a wargamer, although I knew his character "Callan" was.Spartacus wrote:Fantastic report,Very good photos, Excellent indicators on photos.

There are human scarifices inside the wicker man, but not in police uniform.

THe 12s work quite well because :Keith wrote:Thanks for the reports
I'm an ancient Briton , how did you find the Warriors in BG's of 12 ?
I saw that you put the 8 in "support column" How did they go for you ?
The general upgrades 12 dice in combat
They are virtually immune to shooting
If they break it is only 2 AP gone. If they defeat opponents over their whole frontage it can be 4 or 6 AP
The downside is that (as happened to me) you can lose 12 bases broken in an unlucky combat with a single two base enemy BG. Also they don't manoeuvre very well.
The 8 in support occasionally made a difference, but often I would be tempted to move them somewhere else (usually arriving too late).
Also if your front line charges less than a full move to contact then you need a CMT to bring the support column back into supporting range (short move near enemy).
So they do work, but not all that well.
I'm happy enough with the 12/8 combo to stick with it for the time being, although I suspect 10's will also work well as the 25% losses, 1HP3B and autobreak threshold are the same as a 12. I wouldn't use all 8's because you lose out on the upgraded dice in close combat, and normally you need them.

Makes for a different kind of "Man-o-Mano" doesn't it?possum wrote: I stumbled for a sec when I read she then went, "Oh yeah" (blink) "Ancient British" (blink) "BOW-DIC-CA!
BOW-DIC-CA!"
I found it particularly interesting since it sounds like the opposing IC was on the other side of that fight...

Thanks for the tips.
I have been running a BG of 8 Elites and 3 BG's of 8 Average Warriors at 600 points , and BG's of 10 average warriors at 800 points , I haven't tried 12 yet.
I hug the terrain if I can get some rough or difficult going , I am too scared to fight in the open unless I am forced to.
But with a BG of 12 they might be a bit tougher.
