All,
The general view, verbally and by email seems to be that we should go with 700 points - and I have already received some list (more please asap).
So, 700 it is.

Thanks Tom. I have just the army in mind - I have already used it for Warhammer Fantasy Battles, and am looking forward to seeing how it does under FOGR.
I need to get home and check the army list book before I can submit my list.

Come on.. Whose going to fess up what they are bringing? I'm recycling some "old" FOGAM figs.. So it's Swiss for me... Which means my traditional final place is sorted...

Ermm why?tjelsworth wrote: Undrilled AM HF/MF will count as warrior
Surely Greek hoplites at least should be HF?
They are, after all, the archetypal HF.
Perhaps at least make it optional.
Tom, are you still using your BTInternet email address?

The 25mm rules say 1MU = 1 inch with an optional alternative of 1MU = 40mm if using tables larger than 6' x 4'.tjelsworth wrote:Stephen,
On Q1 - yes, I mean that 1 MU will be as the 25mm rules say
So which is it?

Undrilled HF can be classed as HF, undrilled MF as warriors or MF. When Tom and I discussed this we didn't think of Greeks at all and as you say they are the typical HF. But final say will be with the list checker, if he thinks the unit type should be warriors, warriors it is.
As for measurement, 40mm for moving or units cannot wheel and firing, and deployment forward 10 and 15. SO will hit quickly.
1" for flanks, base and terrain, which I would have as 1+2-3 not 1+2-4, because although the terrain sizes are smaller the units are much larger so even small pieces can get in the way (even though I like lots of terrain). But final call on that is from Tom.

Conversely it is harder to fit more than one unit in a piece of terrain. So I would suggest leaving it as 1+2-4.benjones1211 wrote:1" for flanks, base and terrain, which I would have as 1+2-3 not 1+2-4, because although the terrain sizes are smaller the units are much larger so even small pieces can get in the way (even though I like lots of terrain).

Lists should be sent to Tom at
t.elsworth at btopenworld.com
What I mean by wheeling is units 180mm wide if they can only move 3" cannot wheel far compared to being able to move 120mm, just because of how wide they are, basically they wheel like a 4.5 unit wide body in 15mm which is very slowly. So much harder to stop units getting on the flank etc

This isn't helped by the fact that the rules say the MU for 25/28mm figures on a 6'x4' table is 1".tjelsworth wrote: Deployment will be to 25mm MUs rules except that the flank sectors will be 12"
I am sure that I have forgotten key things so do not be shy in letting me know.
Tom

The usual rule is:
1MU=40mm with the following exceptions:
Flank sectors = 12";
Rear edge sectors (for threatened flanks) = 6";
Deployment limits are 15" for Lights and Artillery, and 10" for all others;
Terrain sizes in inches.
Just checking.
Dave
PS Army list nearly done

All,
Dave Allen's list of "normal rules" for deployment works just fine for me.
This is to confirm that 1MU = 40mm
Please all bring your own terrain with you. I think we shall have enough cloths but if one or two spares come along it would be a good precaution.

All,
I have tried to pull together a single staement of special rules as follows.
Last chance to comment ( heading for beach in Malaga shortly)?
Oxford club event 6/7 June – special rules
Measurements
1MU=40mm with the following exceptions:
Flank sectors = 12";
Rear edge sectors (for threatened flanks) = 6";
Deployment limits are 15" for Lights and Artillery, and 10" for all others;
Terrain sizes in inches.
AM troop types
FOGR heavy lance to be used for gens d'armes equivalents - say from 1400 onwards
FOGR keils apply to AM pike blocks from the introduction of Pikes into the Swiss armies
FOGAM impact foot who use heavy throwing weapon (legions, Spanish) will take the points of impact foot plus bayonet/swordsmen but count as having light spear versus mounted and straight impact foot versus foot
Undrilled AM HF/MF will count as warrior – except in cases where an argument can be made for unusual levels of cohesiveness e.g. Hoplites
Slingers will count as bows with long range limited to 4 MUs
Compulsory fortified camps need not be bought
AM artillery counts as poor
AM type "protected" and "unprotected" both count as unarmoured
AM spear armed mounted will count as light lance
Terrain
AM developed counts as agricultural
Terrain choices are 1 compulsory plus 2 to 3 others.

Re: A new event at the Oxford Club - 6/7 June 2015
All,
I have had army lists so far from Nigel Emsen, Phil Jelley, Stephen Steads,
Dave Allen, Richard Bodley Scott, Ben Jones and myself.
Any more takers for this unique experimental event (25mm FOGAM/R)? Army lists as soon as please.
Fee on the day (just £10, plus £1 per day for refreshments, for the two days so we shall just about break even with the numbers we have already).
All welcome but I need to know how many tables to set up.
Start time 0900 on Saturday 6th. Two games each day.
Any queries here or t.elsworth@btopenworld.com
