Already have Komnenans in 25mm and now, like Steve Cal, my long held esteem for Catalans may come to fruition...

Time to recreate the Battle of Kosovo 1389, kingdom of Serbia v Ottoman Empire. Most records indicate that this was one of the largest battles in its time. 80k to 100k men in pitched battle. Historically the battle ended in a stalemate with both the Ottoman Sultan and Serbian king dead.

Late Russians is the only one I have here and it will struggle to get on the table, as I might not get to field enough of the foot (I have odd numbers of bases) and I am not sure how Dvor and Boyars will be represented. Under DBM Late Hungarian is my absolute nemesis so I look forwards to how they run under FoG.

I can already see that Hussite will not do as well under FoG, unless they can corner sit

Yikes, I would choose one randomly, as I know next to nothing about any of them.

For me it will just be Later Russian. A crap army in my hands under DBM 3.n but I wait to see if it will be as good as the Seljuks under FoG (hey I can hope). I will, of course, read all the others to see what the 'in period' opponents will be.

Yes, it'll be similar(ish) to the Seljuks (but without any drilled option for the Ghilmans). I used a beta version last year. I didn't use it that well, and it did stuggle against knights who kept rolling "up" in their VMD and caught my evading boyars.

RBS feels the Polish or Lithuanian is a slightly better army because you have more choice / flexibility in your list.

Wallachians for me, although seeing I'm back in Belfast, and yet to hook up with the local group, I may get Ottomans too. But then again, I'll get some Hungurians too...what the hell, this is my favorite period.

Just to confirm, a few posters are claiming different dates for release of this. I thought it was September?

As I understand it, September is still the official release date for U.K and U.S. however in Aus they always seem to have been coming out at least 6 weeks earlier. I am told this is due to the books being published in this region and are going through a distributor in Aus that takes crates out and then sends them on to U.K and U.S. Dont know how much truth there is in that but dont care when I have had the books already released in my hands so early.

I'm toying with the idea of a Teutonic Order army in 25mm.

I'm liking the look of the Old Glory range with their "Alexander Nevsky" heads. Admittedly they are ahistorical, but what the hell! :P

Well its getting close to mid July and I am not receiving any word on earlier release in Aus. Looks like its going to be September here as well. Still holding hope. I have three weeks leave in mid August and I wanted to use some of that time to paint up my new figures once I find out what type of list I have. Hoping Im not going to grumble to much and ask "what about this and what about that, how could they miss out on theeeeeese troops". :)

Nevertheless few of us are talking it up here. Have Teutons and Turks as being the most sought after.

Russians- who cares if it's not a winner, the imagery is fantastic-I'm amazed GW didn't go down this road for their Kislevites rather than the Renaisance Poles.
Those Old Glory Russian militia -one of their best sets.

I am personally most interested in Ottoman Turk and Later Hungarian, both of which I developed an odd fondness for in DBM. Although I did win a tournament with Later H., I never could make Ottomans work right.

I doubt they'll work too well in FoG either.

I'd be willing to be you'll see L. Hungarians comming out of the woodwork once EE is released. They were quite popular for some time in DBM.

I can remember a High Medieval theme where it seemed like half the players were playing Hungarians.

I saw Pete Dalby smash all before him at Warfare last year using a beta version of the Ottoman list. SMASH ALL BEFORE HIM!

BTW, I'm waiting for Timurid - I even have 4 command stands w/ piles of skulls, hostage screens and Tamerlane himself!

I expect Hungarians to be popular too - the combination of Knights and shooty cavalry can be very effective 8)
