It could easily just be the new and sexy thing making them sell but the shop in question was very happy with sales.
I wonder if there is a difference between North America / UK. I have not heard about sales from the rest of the world. I just make an observation here in Canada at a large chain book store called Chapters. They just don't seem to be selling. I would like to know if that is the case in smaller stores. Only time will tell if the demand keeps up or if there are any returns by the larger stores.

The more sales the more potential opponents so I hope they increase :)

Brian

BTW my copy of Immortal Fire was shipped yesterday so hopefully shoud arrive in the mail this coming week. Can't wait.

I ordered my copy of the immortal fire lists from amazon.co.uk weeks and weeks ago and have just received an email saying they have been delayed a month!!!!

What is going on with Slitherine stock control. OK they underestimated the initial sales of the rules, that was ages ago, they should have got the hang of it by now. It is very annoying that somehow Australia had their copies ages ago and we have yet another month to wait.

And NO australia is not a long way away, even by sea it is a relatively short journey, certainly nothing like the delay being caused at the moment.

I will wait for the release, I don't have any choice, but this inability to release anything on schedule will eventually ripple through and hurt your sales. Please sort it out for your sake if not mine.

actually forget that, do it for me

What happens with Amazon is a matter for Amazon and their supplier. There are at least 2 levels of distribution between Osprey and Amazon. Stock is always in the channel a number of weeks before release and it is the duty of the retailer to stick to release dates. Unfortunately there is not much we can do about it.

I know that Amazon kept changing the quantity they ordered and there was only stock to fulfill their initial quota. People heavily underestinated how many they would sell and our production runs were based on orders as you can't have warehouses sitting with thousands of units of stock as each unit has a storage cost per month, so over produce and you very quickly throw away lots of money. We did have a healthy margin but it disappeared before the books had even arrived in the UK.

I've just been told my copy won't be delivered until May. I appreciate there are difficulties with supply, demand and distribution. However rather than transferring the responsiblity to other unnamed parties I would prefer to see a response which sympathises that there is a problem and indicates that you are working towards a resolution for the next release. This is not the first time this has happened and it should be possible for Slitherine, Osprey and their distributors to work on resolving this issue for the future so that it does not happen again.

There seems to be a complete lack of empathy in this type of response towards a very keen and very frustrated audience. We're not blaming you, we just want the rules - probably only slightly less than you want to give them to us!

1 - Haven't found the rules or lists in any bookstore in London so far, but I've only visited the big chains like Borders and Waterstones.
2 - Shipped or not shipped, there are already some Immortal Fires on amazon uk's "used & new"!!!

We completely understand but there is really nothing we can do - I don't think people understand how hard we are working to get this all done! I can spend hours comforting you all about your books being later than expect or I can get on with trying to sort it out ;)

We have no contact with the companies that supply Amazon! We're about 3 companies removed from them. We do everything we can to maintain the supply but it's well outside our direct control, and Osprey have even switched primary distribution to see if this helps the problem. Wargames rules are just not a high priority for these people sadly.

There is a book store down by Waterloo station that is carrying the FoG range - can't recall the name though.

Is the book avalable from you

Post by wkeyser »

Hi
Ok so I understand that due to overwhelming intrest Amazon.uk has not recived there books yet. However, on the slitherine site it says that imortal fire is only avalable for pre-order. So if I was to order from you would the book be shipped immediatly or am I still going to have to wait.

I also got the delay e-mail...so I complained ...and the very same day got a reply that Amazon had been re-supplied and the book has been shipped!!
All sorted I suppose..which is good as my extreme impatience cannot tolerate even late deliveries from the postman?!

Same here- I think that 2 departments are not talking to each other. They should sort out their internal communications!

Would that be the Ian Allan bookshop?

I can hardly wait for this to begin all over again in one month's time for Swords and Scimitars... and then a month later for Legions Triumphant... and then Eternal Empire... and Decline and Fall...

Cheers,
Scott
