There is a mac version of CEAW, so there could likely be a mac version of CNAW.Gudkarma wrote:first i'm really happy to see such a game. second......ah. its going to be java again?
why can't there be a mac release too?
this game looks a lot more detailed that CEAW. i really want the chance to purchase this game.

there's a mac version because freeverse snagged it.
but waiting 7 or more months for a mac version is horrible.
also thats IF someone decides to port it.
if no one does then poof nothing.
so i was trying to say i wish slitherine would actively pursue making it mac friendly.
i know of many java programs that are produced by one or two man teams as both pc and mac.
so thats really my hope.

Some new info, I think you players deserve an appetizer
- Weather will not only affect movmement and combat effectiveness but also affect supplies, so in Mud and especially Winter you will see your supply levels dropping steadily towards zero, but invaders can avoid disaster by...
- Loot supplies when conquering Cities, which provide another dimension than just the long term production bonuses
- Game will have ability to use the scorched earth tactics, defenders can burn their cities to deny any supplies to conquerors since there is nothing left to loot
- Combat is bigger, more advanced and use both melee support and fire support. This means nearby cavalry and artillery will provide bonuses in battles thereby involving more than 1 vs 1
- Units are more varied and specialised, for example a horse artillery can move+fire on the same turn while foot artillery and siege artillery can just move OR fire
- Major countries become vassals when conquered and can rebuild forces. Furthermore, the vassals can revolt and the opponent player choose when. Revolt too soon and you will be crushed and suffer your units surrendering again.
This and much more can be expected of Commander Napoleon at War
p.s did I mention the AI is also being overhauled and significantly improved

Those changes sound awesome Johan! One question:
Will the opposite player have any means to influence the revolt chance?firepowerjohan wrote: - Major countries become vassals when conquered and can rebuild forces. We want the game to be very stable and also want our announcements to meet the dead line. That is why we wait so that you can trust us when we make our information official
Knowing this, it is good for you to check the site quite frequently because I think it wont be very long gap from the announcements and the release of the game

The prewarning will be very short I can guarantee you
Been a while, so some news here about the game. The scenario creation and editor is improved from CEAW enabling more set victory conditions, disabling nations and varying lengths of scenarios. This means game will have all from short skirmishes about 3-4 turns, medium battles around 10-20 turns and some real huge ones with 100-200 turns. The shorter ones focus on just combat.
For example, my favourite so far is the 1812 scenario including Russia alone vs France and a few of France Allies lasting at most 19 turns and include the lethal Russian winter (especially if you play with advanced weather option ON!). With the great graphics and roads and such on map I feel like playing a Panzer General scenario with Napoleonic units almost... but better
If comparing
Commander Europe at War
Commander Napoleon at War
they differ in many ways that owning one product does not exclude the other. Those who liked CEAW will most certainly enjoy CNAW especially since this game does not change the basic style of CEAW. But CEAW will hardly be obselete just because CNAW come out since the many rule changes coming together with shifting era makes the 2 games feel fresh in their own way.
I also think CNAW will have a bit broader to ppl due to better graphics & sound and also since offering both big and small scenarios.
If you do not know anything about the Napoleonic era, Commander Napoleon at War would be an easy way of being introduced to it
