Re: New 30yr war figures
Finally had the time to have a closer look at the minis, which were sitting on my painting desk for over three weeks now...
The contact was frienddly and delivery was , at least from Totentanz, very fast. The parcel left Totentanz on the day I placed my order, but took about two weeks to arrive here in Germany.
First impressions are really good. I really like the poses and the overall design of the minis. But there are some downsides to. The qualitity of the casting is not as good as I expected for new moulds. Casting of details is very flat. In some areas it is really hard to recognize where one part of the mini is ending, or what exactly you are looking at (although the flat details may be a design choice, it's not really something I like). There are some mould lines and flash (I've seen more and less on other minis).
There are some minor differences in size and the horses are a bit to big for my taste (but are beautifully done otherwise).
My rating:
Poses: 5 of 5
Design: 4 of 5
Casting: 3 of 5
This range ain't the cheapest out there and I'm still not sure if the price of 4,25 € per pack is justifiable.
Nevertheless I'm looking forward to their cuirassiers and other mounted troops, as that is what I'm really after. So I'll stick with them and try to build an army with their stuff (or go to Donnington if I can't wait any longer
).
Cheers,
Chris
