I'm another person waiting for both the Italian wars and ECW/TYW period FoG versions. I suspect that these may need two books though - at least there will be some different rules as the time period extends.

I could imagine a 16th Cent update/modification book with lists and then a 17th Cent update/modification and lists. That would stop some of the worse 'clashes of technology' which has been seen in some rule sets. It also models Osprey's other book periods. After all things change (local tactics and weapons) faster in the 1500-1700 time frame. That said, a balanced point system could likely help there.

Some of the obvious changes are:

* MF with firearms
* Add a 4 MU range muskets for foot troops - leave firearms as they usefully model later pistols etc. The new weapon also allows it's own POA's.
* Maybe also increase the range of Art and/or making light Art a little more mobile.
* Mixed Pike and shot units but in a different way than currently to model the mutual support of the later 16th and to the mid 17th Cent Western Europe units.

Mounted firearm LH and Cav could be used to model the black powder armed (and sometimes circulating fire) horse of the last 15th/16th Cent

Well if you pop up a level from the FoG forum to index.php you'll be able to spot a new forum for FoG Renaissance (and FoG Napoleonics) which may prove interesting to some ... 8)
