AC were not used by the community. There were a couple of polls.

So it was changed in a patch. All AC's doubled or more in defense.

That is the only problem I have with Armor cars. They are hard to kill.

So most of them have been reduced defense in the Total Realism Mod.

And as it is they are still rather useless. I have elaborated in detail why in a former thread last month.

Interesting. So the changes were done in favor of gameplay, going against the trend of realism.

As I mentioned above tho, I actually have no problem that they're hard to kill - I see that as representing their elusiveness and the fact that they're simply not going to seek out battle. BUT.... they should not be able to hurt armored formations at all IMO.

I'm not so sure about that, especially in the early years .
Panhard 178 has a 25mm autocannon.
Panzer 2 20mm cannon
Most German and several Italian armoured cars had a 20mm.
The French 25mm AT might sound pretty small, but there are records of taking out Panzer 3s and 4s with them - that's probably with a slower rate of fire than the 25mm autocannon, where multiple close hits would have potential for taking out a weakened spot with the second or later hit.
Also, the massed 14.5mm AT rifles used by the Russians were credited with taking out Panzer 3s and possibly 4s and a well placed shot on the vision port could disable any vehicle. We are talking dozens of troops firing at around 15 rounds minute, so probably the effect is not much different from having a flakvierling taking a shot at you.

The Panhard also has a two man turret, so could reasonably claim higher initiative or better hitting power (ie better placed shots and more intense firing) over the one-man turret that was quite common in early tanks. Many armoured cars were much more mobile and often a smaller target than a tank, so they would have been a harder target to hit than many tanks - armour isn't the only protection.

It's true that the game allows weak attackers to retain some combat effectiveness when it probably shouldn't - the minimum kill chance of 6% allows even a Panzer 2 a chance of killing the IS2, but that relates to lighter guns in general, rather than to armoured cars, but how do you know that your scout unit doesn't include a couple of heavier vehicles or a pair of AT guns that 6% of the time are in just the right place to take off a track?
