OK, here is a suggestion for allowable armies in an ECW based theme:

Early Caroline English
Scots Covenanter
Scots Royalist
Confederate Irish
Early ECW Royalist
ECW Parliamentarian
Later ECW Royalist
New Model Army

You could add a couple of left field choices as well as they have a connection and could add variety if the above are considered too restrictive on their own. It's the battle of the Dunes, 1658, where English Royalist and Commonwealth troops fought on opposite sides:

Early Louis XIV French - must be 1658 Royal army Special Campaign version, and Englis allies are compulsory

Later Imperial Spanish - must be 1658 only in Flanders Special Campaign version, French Rebel allies are compulsory and at least 1 English foot BG must be fielded

And here is the other theme, changed slightly from just Italian Wars to more of a Habsburg-Valois Wars one:

Maxamillian Imperial
Italian Wars French
Trastamara Spanish
Italian States
Italian Wars Venetian
Early Henrician English
Swiss
Caroline Imperial - not Africa options
Later Henrician English
Early Imperial Spanish - up to 1559, Army of Flanders only

Suggest you drop the Swiss!! that's what we did for the Southern League as in period the Swiss are just too awesome!

I am not planning to attend so it makes no difference but I suspect that over 50% of the armies for ECW will be Scots Cov - 1644 Marston Moor option, mounted heavy - If I were going it is what I would take and judging from the results when this set of armies (almost) was run at 800 points in the SL Central London round so would most of the top players and some of the also rans.

Would seem a shame to reduce them to just mercenaries when covering the only period they did fight for themselves :?

What do others think?

BTW any thought as to what the comp format would be? Points, etc.?

Also I note from above comments that the 2 themes I came up with are pretty much the same as 2 rounds of the Southern League - is that an issue? I'm sure other themes could be drawn up just as quickly - I only mentioned those 2 as they're obvious and people are likely to have suitable lead.

I will be there I think the Swiss need to be in if we do Italian wars at 650 points it will work okey with them in.
The ecw I would stick to that and not go later than 1648

I'm in for both days whatever we play. But I'm happy with ECW up to 1648 and Italian Wars including Swiss.

Be nice if Hammy would comment on whether FoG:R can run both days - I can make it if it does, but 1 day would be not worth the trip. I've asked him to post but as yet nothing ...

OK so it looks like ECW and Italian wars it is then.

I have an Italian wars army I can lend out or use if needed but my ECW stuff is all 6mm on 15mm bases.

Let's make it officially ECW on Saturday and Italian war on Sunday

As far as players go we have:

Kevin J
Dave R
Colin B
Nik G

Which is enough for a round robin each day and if armies change it will mean no full repeats. We may well get more players but at the moment the names above are the only ones I have confirmed or semi confirmed for FoG:R

Is there a FoG:R listchecker? If not I'll happily volunteer.

Oh, and as I'm list checking I'll commit to using Later ECW Royalist and Early Henrician English as my two armies.
