This is the master plan for not losing against Alasdair? Bring a spare army so he can't play?viking123 wrote:Ben and I are both going to bring a TYW Peninsular Spanish army so we can divide into two singles if a team does not turn up.

The Central London Venetians are now one general short of a doubles team - Gordon of Khar(lap)toun has not been overcome by the Mahdi's minions, but he is indisposed.
I will gallantly shoulder the burden of leading the (Murano) glass hammers. However, if any even faintly incompetent condottieri happen to be in the vicinity and in want of a game or two they will be welcomed with open* pockets.

Dave,
Sorry to hear that Gordon of Khar(lap)toun is indisposed. He needs to take more water with it or is that the trouble too much Thames water.
You might get Alastair to play with you.

A very enjoyable weekend. Thank you to RBS for organising, and opponents who gave byron and I four very enjoyable games. It was nice to see good sportsmanship with people staying behind to cheer on the trophy winners.

Seconded.
Bryan and I had a most enjoyable time despite operating in the lower divisions throughout (largely due to a 1st round pasting from Don).
Regards
Chris
PS Note to self (again): stop trying to find ways to win against better players and look for ways not to lose

Thank you every one for a most enjoyable weekends wargaming.
Special thanks to Richard for doing all the hard work organising and for tactical advice that worked so well on Sunday.
Chris, I couldn't have done it without Steve's help.

Ben and I would like to thank our 4 opponents for great games especially Richard and Tom without whom we would not have come 3rd. It was a very enjoyable but hot weekend.
Thanks also to RBS for all his hard work and putting up with all the banter.
Ben and I left before Richard's game against Dave finish in the clear expectation that we were going to come 4th.

course, Byron and I should especially thank Dave for being generous and allowing us to play longer by not using the GC in his list... Makes his win against us all the more as he kindly played with a 45pt handicap... Sorry, Dave it has to be mentioned....

Smacks of incompetence if you ask me.
Dave
PS many thanks to DDWS and RBS for putting the whole thing on. A fun weekend despite the rubbish armies.

Thank you to all our opponents. Four good games.
Our artillery were useless in 3 games and then couldn't miss in the fourth game - taking out 9 elements of superior infantry and defeating two late tercio BGs single handed. Sorry Andy!
Richard

Someone at Devizes kindly offered to lend me a 28mm Swedish army for Keith McGlynn's 28mm tournament at Slimbridge in November, but I am afraid I cannot remember who it was.
If you haven't changed your mind, please could you contact me?
