Should mention that I chose the vizzies as I thought terrain would be up to us, whoops. Started agst Mark and realised my major plan, THE PLAN has gone AWOL.

No excuses, just the facts LOL.

Gday lydianed
Unfortunatly you have chosen the wrong army for this competition as you have Maurken Byzantine and it should be Early Byzantine. If you could change your army and take up another of my challanges Password =gothic

In addition, **army composition cannot be changed**: pick carefully.
Can you explain this please? Does this mean I use the same army for all games in round 1?

I'm really not sure. I thought this was the early Byz army. I'm away from home for most of the day so can't fix this now our check the lists to see of there is another army I'm supposed to be using. The Maurikians look like the right period.... If someone knows better pls advise.

The early Byzantine army is the first army in the Decline and Fall book (Just above the Moorish). the name is simply "Early Byzantine' and covers the period from 493AD to 550AD.

Me too, I have included army options below although they have been edited, I think.

There is some confusion with dates, as some armies (Lombard Early and Avars) beginning date are after the end of the Early Byzantine period.

I am using Vizzy early which ends 466 AD, there is a bit of a gap between early and mid Visigoth so for arguments sake the early visigoths would prob be OK upto 550 ad.

The Later Visigoth Early army was the original army, that is the one I chose but FOGMAN edited army options, yesterday (I think). See bottom of first post for edits?

From Decline and Fall:

Early Byzantines 493 -550 ad,
Later Visigothic 550 - 554,
Italian Ostrogothic 493-561,
Lombards (early) 568 - 649,
Avars (early) 558 - 631.

From Legion Triumphant:

Gepids 260 - 567.

I am OK carrying on with original armies or starting again, replacing Early Byz with Maurikian Byz 550-628 and quite prob choosing different armies

Oh Dear i had no idea there was a problem with dates and armies.I assumed Early Byzantine was the list to choose if one chose Byzantines. I have Italian Ostrogothic the first choice on the list which i assume is the correct choice.I think if 2 players have chosen Maurikinan Byzantine which is in the time scale then im happy to keep going. Its up to Fogman though as its his competition,so lets see what he decides.
