Re: Soviet Corps
It could make for howls from players, but...
You could let the player develop an experienced core, then simulate Stalin's purges of the Officer corps. Cut all experience levels by 60% or something. Actually, Soviet corps without some sort of nod to the purges would be seriously unrealistic. The lack of experienced officers during Barbarossa was probably Russia's greatest handicap.

Da, this is one of the factors I had in mind when I suggested a very low pre-1941 experience cap.danhanegan wrote:It could make for howls from players, but...

Re: Soviet Corps
A new unit type "Sniper" could be implemented. Snipers could have high Initiative and a Spotting range of 3 (as with Recon units) as one of their tasks was observation. Artillery units adjacent to friendly ground units support ground units with defensive indirect fire when these units are attacked. A sniper unit when adjacent friendly infantry units, could "support" these units. I suggest lowering the initiative slightly of defending infantry units when attacked by Russian infantry units supported by a sniper. Snipers will not be affected by enemy ZOC as they are experts in infiltration. Snipers to get a bonus (devs to decide what type) when defending in city/urban hexes. Create Hero Sniper units like Lyudmila Pavlichenko, Vassili Zaitsev, etc. For the Finnish Winter War, the sniper Simo Hayha, with high experience.

There are graphics in the game files, so base Soviet Corps is just short of confirmed.
A larger DLC grand-campaign will probably be included but I would think this would appear after the Western Allied GC comes out

Is it coming out, when, who knows lol
Dont get me wrong, love the PC family of games, but as a company, they really fall short when letting us know what they have coming down the line with their games. Cant stand that!

They already said it's coming. What more do you want? No company in the world will tell you an approximate release date before they know it themselves. They have their hands full with other stuff right now, just released a patch and still have to work on porting the game to iOS and all that with a very limited 'supply' of developers
Give them some breathing space
Except for the recent patch disaster I think the communication between them and the community is actually commendable.

Re: Soviet Corps
There is an offical annoucement in that section of the forum saying its coming out?? I see posts and whispers this might be out next or that, but nothing offical ever, least I cant recall one being posted. And the fact we have a few active topics asking whats next or future plans tells me im not the only not sure whats coming out and when.
I play alot of table top min gaming, and those companies have a update about ever six months with what they are working on and when they hope to release it. Now as you rightly say things can change, and ive seen updates 6 months later saying something is behind and a fall release date now becomes the following spring etc.
Think what im saying and others is, it be nice to see an offical posting in the annoucement sections that they ARE working on this or that. That Soviet Corps is being worked on for summer 2014, Western Allies DLC of fall of 2014 etc.
Again I get what you are saying, they do an awful lot for us with undates etc. Guess we are all greedy and want more PC, AC and now SC to play since we like this game so much and want to know when we can get our new fix!!!

Re: Soviet Corps
Soviet Corps is definitely something to look forward too. I already think of the scenarios with plenty of tanks
Of all the games i have been playing throughout the years, the Panzer Corps dev team is the number one, of implementing user ideas. The succes of this game is far from over

Re: Soviet Corps
Soveits will be a challange, I remember playing them in PG II I think it was. Trying to build a good core wasnt easy, the Germans just trash your troops early in the war and your equipment is so poor. I cant wait to build a massive infantry horde! lol

Re: Soviet Corps
I just read about "Order of Battle: Pacific" and "founded by members of the team who created Panzer Corps".
Did the team split, and what will this mean for the Lordz Studio and the Aristocrats and even more so for the development of the Panzer Corps series?

Re: Soviet Corps
Soviet Corps is a definitely coming, the only question is when, as Lordz has so many games in development at this point, only a portion of our projects that are in development have been officially announced so far.
Most likely Soviet Corps is for late summer 2014.
We have a 4-day meeting with Slitherine next week, discussing all our projects and together with Alex (Flashback Games) and Slitherine we have to decide what is next for the PzC team. At the moment we have our hands full with finishing the PzC iPad port and the Warhammer 40,000 game series.

Really hope it comes out soon-ish, a cold war campaign (45-49) would be brilliant. I know they have loads on their plate with 40k, but Soviet Corps would mainly be content.

You have to take Slitherine's update not with a pinch of salt but more like a barrel of salt.
Life is richer than our plans.

I prefer something even more realistic: "Gamer proposes, Slitherine announces, Game takes 2 years longer than announced to be made, Gamers get bored and play something else"jaggy wrote:I prefer "Gamer proposes, Slitherine dawdles"caca wrote:Man proposes, God disposes.
Is the release date 22 June 2041 by any chance?

Re: Soviet Corps
I wonder if the build up will be treated like the GC 42-43 West where you get some of your core and then a bunch of new units thereafter. I would buy it regardless but fear the t-34 horde available in 41 as unbalanced.
