fogman (lithuanians) 23/33 vs solly (timurids) 45/36, 8 turns.

the timurids did not have any lancers but had elephants which failed to make an impact. the lithuanians were able to destroy the weak left wing of average persian horsemen, then came to the rescue of their own left wing in a decisive charge that triggered a chain reaction rout.

fogman (lithuanians) 14/33 vs lascar (russians) 33/31, 7 turns.

once again the lithuanians were able to overwhelm one wing of the russians while holding off the other wing. the russians had no lancers but all their cavalry were tough armoured superior.

In both cases, superior concentration won the day. the light spear armed lithuanians have an edge on impact against horse archers but a large proportion of them are average protected and are vulnerable in melee against armoured superior horsemen. this is where the support of of a few heavy armoured knights was vital. both timurids and russians did not take advantage of more potent archery by letting the lithuanians close in on them too quickly.

now you have an idea of my strategy in the mirror games!

The Russian initial assault on the Mamluk line was unexpectedly devastating resulting in 12 breakpoints. After that it was very challenging for the Mamluks to recover and stem the tide of battle.

fogman (lithuanians) 14/33 vs voskarp (mamluks) 34/31, 8 turns.

the mamluks stayed compact but faulty evasion settings allow the lithuanians to pierce the defensive wall; it was a wild melee where the lithuanians coming in from 3 sides had positional advantage.

the poles had a strike force of 10 heavy armoured knights and supporting horses on their right and hungarians allies on their left sitting on a hill. the lithuanians were able to isolate and destroy the hungarians after a shooting contest while their own knights went down in desperate fighting in the middle but only after inflicting heavy casualties.

guys, solly has gone mww (missing without warning). he played one quick game with me but has not started any other. only the game between lascar and ian remains to be concluded. we can now just proceed to the second round. remember, we switch armies.
