Re: Amaris' Battle of Ortona - Little Stalingrad - MULTIPLAY
*** REVISED VERSION UPLOADED ***
Fixes for early feedback:
1. Forces moved further apart - Skirmishes broke out by 1st or 2nd turn in original version. Most testers asked for extra time to organise their forces before contact.
2. Balance improved - Previously gave too many free units to Canadians, so the Germans usually struggled to cope. This version is more even, but if it makes the Germans unbeatable for you, please let me know.
3. Map tweaks - Small changes to make central areas more "defendable" while making new parts of the map "explorable".
Please replace your existing Ortona_MP folder with this latest one (same link at the top of this thread). It should not affect games that have already started, but it will prevent the "script mismatch" error if one player has the latest version and their opponent does not.
Thanks for your first feedback guys... all comments welcome

I enjoy hiding my tanks in the "open ground" house tiles, lol.
I am undefeated in MP fromboth sides so far, but Mike is starting to take it to me from the Brits side right now...lol

You are a really good player Justin.
this is tough map an only second time playing for me.
That last turn of mind was not so good.....Lol. that will teach me for getting too cocky...hehehe
Think maybe Allies could maybe get atleast 1/2 their mortars an carriers in a position in beginning where they could be deployed sooner...takes quite awhile to get them out an down to business...

Hey JCB, Can you chuck up a screenshot of the "open ground" houses... They come through with the Ortona SP map but it's easy to fix... Thanks!jcb989 wrote:I enjoy hiding my tanks in the "open ground" house tiles, lol.

Re: Amaris' Battle of Ortona - Little Stalingrad - MULTIPLAY
Hey guys, can you pack the MP version in an LST file for iPad play? Amaris did that with the single player game and it's working.

Have fun gents!
Ok guys,
1. Run BA on your Mac, PC or iPad
2. Choose Campaigns (at the bottom)
3. Choose Download Community Scenarios (at the top)
4. Choose Download a Campaign Package from the Internet (top right)
5. Type http://bit.ly/BA88ortona into the URL box
6. Click the green tick
7. Back at the campaigns list, select "Ortona MP" and click Download the Selected Campaign (bottom centre)
8. This should download everything that you need
9. Go back to the first page of BA and choose Multiplayer
10. Log in to Multiplayer as normal
11. Either go to the My Challenges tab and create a New Challenge. This list will now show the Ortona MP...
12. Or go to the Accepts Challenges tab and look for an opponent...
After all that, you can play Ortona MP on any platform... Phew!!

Re: Amaris' Battle of Ortona - Little Stalingrad - MULTIPLAY
Apologies for spamming your posts GL88, but.. is this an updated version? I tried to download from that link to make sure I have latest version but of course I already have Ortona MP so nothing. Will I have to delete directory again like my previous problem with Sword GJS'44 download? Thanks,

Re: Amaris' Battle of Ortona - Little Stalingrad - MULTIPLAY
Jon, after playing this map twice with Justin...I would think that a couple of slight changes would be both nice, and helpful for the Allies.
I believe that the Allies(if there is no deployable area) should have their mortars spawn in the middle area with a couple of carriers available. This will help get them into play sooner, and help out in the battle progress. As it stands they are always back in the corner trapped and it takes forever to get them out and of any use. Mean while you are getting bombarded by all of the german mortars practically from the very beginning. Also, I would replace the Panthers with Mark IV's. The Panthers with their front armor is too much of an advantage...especially when you get to the more open area...there is no way to engage them. Hell...I had a semi side shot from 2 squares with a "150" Morale Sherman and didnt even scratch his paint. He turn his gun and BAMM...over. One shot kill.
Subsequently...These are all just thoughts....But, I doubt I could ever win (got abit closer on the last round) as the allies on this map. Atleast not against Justin...lol

Ehhh, like I said in-game, I was actually worried there for about 15 turns. lol.k9mike wrote:Subsequently...These are all just thoughts....But, I doubt I could ever win (got abit closer on the last round) as the allies on this map. Atleast not against Justin...lol Mike
Actually you were a lot closer to our demise than maybe you thought.
The difference was those two Panthers, had you figured out a way to knock them out
we would have been done for. As it were, I was careful to keep them back and well situated.
And allow your lines to get dispersed and over-extended. Then we put on the big whammy. lol.
