Well each Lab adds a bonus 1/3 turns, so 3 labs = 1/turn. It is a random number like 1-30 or something, and I wanted it to be a bell curve instead, but for now its random. It gets modified by difficulty, but you can see that. I always buy as many damn labs as I can afford, but yet its a tough decision. In the next Mod we decided to lower the difficulty so tech is faster. This also lets the allies catch up later.

Well I am not sure it is that complicated as Vypuero wrote it. In the general.txt script there is a EFFICIENCY_LOSS_FROM_UNLOAD which currently is at 12. This means you drop 12% efficiency when you unload a unit. If you unload from port you lose nothing.possum wrote:WHY isn't this documented in the manual? How in the name of seven demons are we supposed to know this?vypuero wrote:keep in mind you lose:
1 - no efficiency if you land from a port
2 - A greater amount of you don't
3 - the most if you land in enemy territory
Also concerning research, in the manual it says research is 33% each if having balanced focus and 50%, 25%, 25% if focused. About the difficulty and progress. Difficulty is the amount of research points needed to advance one tech level so doubling it means it take twice the time to research that tech.
Progress randomness is that you for each technology get 1, 8 or 15 research points per lab, where that turn progress is multiplied into the labs and also multiplied with the focus factor (which is 25%, 33% or 50% depending on focus).
So if you have maximum luck with say Subs and have 3 labs with balanced focus then you will get 15*1=15 Research Point. So if Sub has difficulty of 30 this means 15 out of 30 is 50%, means you jump your progress bar from 0% to 50% in one turn.

The penalty is same unloading into enemy or friendly territory while unloading from Sea Port is without penalty.vypuero wrote:Johan don't you lose more efficiency when landing in enemy territory vs. landing in friendly territory, or is that not correct?
