Could you be more explicit . As it is written , one might think that a light infantry unit in tactical fires as 2 units
Not sure how you come to this conclusion - Units in tactical only ever fire as a single unit whatever the range.
I suppose you mean ; in extended line , a SK unit fires as 2 SK units . I do not have my rules with me but I fail to see the advantage of being in SK extended line . A Simple extended libe gives you more firepower .
A skirmisher unit in extended line fires as 2 units AT CLOSE RANGE. They still only fire as skirmishers (3 dice for a small unit, 4 for large) .... and they still take the -POA for skirmishers firing at close range.
The obvious advantages of being in skirmish formation are:
> Movement through rough terrain
> Movement in general
> Easier to enter buildings
> Reduced casualties from shooting
> The ability to evade if charged
The only advantage of being in extended line is to cover more area - which may be helpful in blocking your opponents 2nd moves, or to provide protection from shooting for more units behind. It's not a formation I use very often!
