Re: The Future is coming!!! FOG v2
Just heard from our club events organiser, who is at Devizes show today.
He has been sounding out people at the show, who have told him that FOG 2 is now dead, and we should replace our FOG Ancients competition with FOG Renaissance or Napoleonic
Which would be a shame, since the Plymouth club has been a predominantly Ancients club since it was first founded in 1973...

How can something that has not been released be dead?johno wrote:Just heard from our club events organiser, who is at Devizes show today.

because it was only going to be accessible to very few people. Now it should be accessible to all. So it lives. Horrayhammy wrote:How can something that has not been released be dead?

I still think from what has been said it is being released on digital thats a fact, but they are only trying to get it to paper sometime no date.philqw78 wrote:because it was only going to be accessible to very few people. So it will be out to those with digital first still splitting a small number of wargamers. If i was cynical I would have thought due to the bad press something had to be done to move this digital idea forward what better than saying they are working on a paper copy. of course I'm not cynical.

Re: The Future is coming!!! FOG v2
As far as the likelihood of running V2 tournaments, I suspect that is not going to happen until either the paper version is available or. at a minimum, an authoritative list of changes is available in hard copy. While that may not be "dead". for a set of rules whose biggest strength seems to be for tournament play, that would seem ot at least qualify as suspended animation. So hopefully the paper version or at least changes/amendments will follow quickly to minimize the duration of the suspension.

I think people are being insane now.
Slitherine wanted to do something dynamic for their product and our hobby. They heard that they are bit further forward than the hobby and they are working on a print solution. Everyone is going to win. So let's stop the weird complaining and slagging.
We get digitial and print. What''s wrong?

Re: The Future is coming!!! FOG v2
I like the idea of a digital edition - I work in IT for God's sake!
But I can't afford a tablet of any shape, size or description to run it on - I work in IT in the SouthWest of England, where the wages are up to 30% less than they are in the M4 corridor for the same job
So unless there is a printed version I can take to my games, I am not likely to buy v2 at all.
If there is a printed version, then I might later add a digital version, if I can afford something to run it on...

And we now know they are working on a print version, which makes it all "OK".

Except that we apparently need to let some emotions run their course. Once that's done maybe we can see that we have a good deal.hazelbark wrote:And we now know they are working on a print version, which makes it all "OK".

I generally don't care for lynch mobs unless they are doing my bidding. So i have several suggestions for those who need an emotional release.shadowdragon wrote: Except that we apparently need to let some emotions run their course. Once that's done maybe we can see that we have a good deal.

So it looks like things will work out in the end.....they still get to push the technology bubble into the future, and we'll have a print option.
Now the only question is when?
