Thanks :)

Here's another little preview:

I changed things a bit on the awards page. After spending lots of time for usable IJA portraits I found simply not enough, esp. in acceptable quality.

Image

So I decided to use a generic "hero" graphic, which will be the same for all heroes.

I also use basically two medals only, because after reasearching it it was difficult to find clear info, and sometimes pics for specific military medals. I use now the more common order of the rising sun, and order of the golden kite which - if I got that right - were awarded to both military and civilians in several classes. These will appear in the second row left and right (hopefully)

In the center you do not get another medal, but a "rank". So I use the slot originally used for knight's cross plus decor for promotions of the guy commanding that unit instead of more medals. Works for me. The only thing I have to do there is changing the hero names to Japanese ones... :)

And while there are no naval-only scenarios as said, you get these (and more) as cover force when invading Australia....

Did some work on the title art for the IJA campaign, here's a preview:

Image

Asahi is - if I got that right - the Japanese term for "Morning Sun". IIRC there was a "Rising Sun" mod for PG2 - now in a fit of creativity I named this "Morning Sun", hehe ;)

Campaign-wise there are a couple of scns to do, I have to write a lot of briefings still, and later, when AK is out I see what new stuff it has and what I can implement from there.

Some things about the campaign:

In the first scns equipment available is a bit restricted. The idea is that at the start you're not a prominent commander, so you don't get access to everything from the start. For example it will be difficult and expensive to motorize inf and arty at the beginning, but you don't have to - the first three scns are made so that you can live without trucks for example.

Light arty and mortars can move 2 - if you want to buy an early arty tractor for slow move 1 heavier arty, you have to pay quite a high price. Later cheaper trucks come in (the models were in service earlier for the IJA, but that doesn't mean they were available everywhere). Halftracks come in rather late (1944)

These restrictions fall with the start of the Pacific War, so Dec. 1941. From there most stuff (except bonus units) becomes available freely, and (roughly) at historical dates.

jejej...hmmm...Bernd, if you refer to the japanese war flag then the title would be a bit misleading although I deeply admire your sudden attack of creativity  ..hehe
The Japnese war flag was "The Rising Sun" flag..> Kyokujitsu-ki in japanese > 旭日旗..Asahi sounds a bit short, somewhat empty,meaningless...dunno..maybe its just me
"Kyokujitsu-ki - The Rising Sun" would maybe more appropiate if I would have to choose a title, who cares if there was a similar title back then..I mean there are no more titles for Operation Barbarossa Mods/Gamnes etc...
just random thoughts of course..

I'm not referring to the flag's name - it's not a warflag mod after all ;)

Morning sun does of course refer to the Japanese state symbol in general - a morning sun is de facto a rising sun. My understanding is that Asahi is used for all kinds of stuff related to Japan, in poetry or in names of Japanese warships, companies, newspapers or even products. I like it precisely because it is short, and something a "westerner" like me can say without too much trouble.

So while we're waiting for AK I'll post some more appetizers & info from time to time :)

Some more of the new unit gfx in map and big UI view:

Thx again to kerloc for helping me out with certain 3d models -for example the Type 94er tankette. I also got a 75mm Type 38 gun and a 20mm Type 98 AA from him. The former was easy to modify into a Type 95 gun as well.

With these and some more I did myself I was able to provide unique custom gfx for all those Japanese units which had only cloned original PzC gfx in the USMC mod. This goes specifically for arty and AA. There's also a 75mm AA gun now which has an AT switch like the German 88.

Beyond those there are some additional vehicles, but the most Japanese additions are in airplanes. Then there's some stuff for the Allies, esp. Brit/Commonwealth units, like those Australian planes (last row, 2nd pic) and the 4.5 inch howitzer there.

VPaulus is right of course. It's a work in progress.

Right now I'm converting the equipment file to the format of AK/patch 1.10 to take advantage of new features :)

Will you include units like the Chi-Nu or Ha-To or Ho-Ni III that were never used in combat but still actually got over the prototype stage and were produced?

In general, yes :) I had the same idea and wanted to give the option to use equipment that has been produced, but historically mostly kept back for home defense.

Of the three you mention, I have two in already (Chi-Nu, Ho-Ni III). I'll probably leave out the Ha-To since it was only produced in a very small number.
