Hi,
So if I can just force the large Froggies into square they will lose their self support.
and if you then get to attack them with Infantry or Artillery, they will lose their self respect, too :D
One other thing I was wondering about squares, skirmishers have to spend a turn reforming into a tactical formation before they can form square. If the enemy is more than 6 MU away could they try a CMT and use a second move to go from tactical to square? I think I read somewhere it takes 2 turns for them to make a square but was wondering if they can short cut it if they get enough warning.
If it is your Moving phase you certainly can change formation from Skirmish formation to Tactical formation. Then if you spend a Command Point (or have a free one with appropriate Commander attached) you can roll a CMT.

You cannot do this during the Assault phase, even if the assaulting Cavalry starts from outside 6MU.

I can't find anything to prohibit your suggestion.

A double-move from skirmish to square via a CMT for the second move looks ok, but relying on a 5+ is risky - best to get an officer over to help out.

good point, I missed the whole must be in tactical formation thing.

They still get to ignore the first hit though.

Yes - They can form tactical on the first turn then take a CMT to form square.
