I know about the fix, but the early Soviet entry has made for a very interesting game, so I will not apply it just yet. I have just encountered the large fleet of Allies CVs in the Med which is hammering the Italians and a German TAC air unit I moved into Sicily. I see from another thread that this is a problem others have had, the game is not perfect, I think the supply system needs some work, but despite these items it's still been a lot of fun.

Out of the games I have bought recently, this is the game I am finding it difficult to leave, it's certainly not boring, you just want the see what's going to happen next. :D
I don’t want to spoil your fun but my first and second game with this bug went in same direction and I have had the similar thoughts as you but the main problem with this bug is that USSR has entered to war against Axis unprepared and too weakened so I have had no problems to conquer USSR major cities and then game was not fun anymore  .
I would not want the early Soviet entry to happen every game, because it would take away the uncertainty. A low odds possibility of Soviet entry would ensure that the East front could not be left unguarded and that a game with a different feel could happen from time to time. My choice would be to have this as an option that could be either, selected off (no chance), or set at low odds, finally at random odds.

I am playing the Fall Gelb (Axis v AI) with the Soviets forcing a collapse of the Romanians and Ploesti under threat, I am just finishing assembling a sufficient force in Eastern Poland, after the fall of France, to launch a serious counter attack, but I think I have to head South (rather than to Moscow) to save the Romanians and the oil and it's already September, meanwhile the Baltic states are still free, leaving an outflanking option for either side.

Maybe the Soviets are weak (there is another discussion running on whether deep advances are too easy), but I have still to find out how the Western Allies will react, I expect to be bouncing back and forwards between each front, what happened in your game while you were defeating the Soviets.

I've played the Eastern Front in many other game titles, but nothing like this, it's not just Barbarossa again (yawn) and has been great fun. :D
