Regretfully, you have to go by the definition in the convention, which is that it includes the use of hamsters, chinchillas, guinea pigs and mice in addition to gerbils but apparently it does not include rats. :D

But you knew that. :)

I don't want to be too much of a stick about this, but can I not be a Nazi troop type? I won't go into the lurid details, but perhaps it can be acknowledged that there might be some personal sensitivities here.

Not the end of the world of course, if you don't like it don't post and all that, but couldn't the icons have been British for instance? I'd like to be a sergeant in the Home Guard. :D

I say McNeil old chap, would you mind awfully if we could have our old icons back, that would be so kind. Thank you so much.

Guys we have not released an anceint game for over 2 years. We have 5 WW2 games releasing this year not counting the 4 Close Combat games. Ancients is a niche area when it comes to peoples historical interests. The vast majority prefer WW2. Thats not to say we dont love creating anceint games and plan to do more in future and greatly value the community. However they are no longer the only thing we do. The majority of our community are more interested in WW2 than ancients. Our forum needs to appeal to the majority of the community. There are many people who have commented on the avatars over the years and how they really dont like them. Some have been just as offended by them as the posters above. Sadly you can't keep everyone happy all the time and nobody likes change. However for the good of the community and our site we need to move with the times.

The system does not have the ability to show more than one set of avatars. It also does not allow you to pick your own. These are both features we would like to have at some point. The new avatars are here to stay.

People seem to have take this as a deliberate attempt to offend, but lets be sensible. Why would we do that....

That's all I have to say on the subject.

I find them quite offensive as icons. So no more slitherine products for me then.

Bwahaha!!! I am the DESTROYER. Fear me.

I don't object to the change of icons to WWII Mr Slitherine, but i do think its a poor choice to go with the Nazis, given the whole fascism/'final solution' thing.

I'd suggest switching to Allied icons would be a far better, more politically and emotively sensitive move.

You may not have INTENDED to offend, but you must be aware that tagging, for example, a forum member who's grandfather died in Bergen Belsen, with a nazi Tiger II, is probably not a good idea?

Personally i'd rather be tagged with a 'little ship' than a Kreigsmarine destroyer.
