Despite the break through in the Roman center, they have been able to contain the Pyrrhics on their left flank despite heavy losses and even do heavy damage to the Pyrrhic battle line just to the left of the big Pyrrhic break through. The Romans continue to exploit their big break through on the right flank. They are very close to victory!

Despite a vigorous final round the Pyrrhic army just could not pull it off.

The Romans are victorious! It was real touch and go there for awhile. The Romans won 49/80 to 77/76. The real hero for this battle had to be the Roman Pedites Extraordinarii! They just ploud right through the enemy and just kept up going! The whole right side done very well with the Cavalry and Medium infantry working well together, but in the end, it was the Triari and Velites that shored up the weak points of the battle line that stopped the Pyrrhic break throughs. I hope you all liked the battle report and the new scenario. Thanks!

Here you go.

Post by CharlesRobinson »

Here you go - I sent you Asculum 279 BC.

I will offer up the other ones as they are ready and I do battle reports for them. I have to take another look at them because this last update changed the point values. I am not sure if I really need to change the scenarios though since the rules have not changed much and the games still seem to be well balanced. Thanks

Size of the Battle

Post by CharlesRobinson »

It is average for the Table Top Version - about twice the size for the PC Version. :D

Great Scenario Charles! It is really hard for the Romans to keep their units in command. Especially with only two leaders...Good Job.

Yes Command is an issue

Post by CharlesRobinson »

Yes Command is an issue. This is scaled for Table Top Field of Glory, bu the PC version has a smaller command radiius. Still seems well balanced though so I have not adjusted the command radius to match the table top game. Will just have to see what I get for feedback. :D

Thanks Charles , I had a lot of fun on this one, victory as Phyrrhus turn 12, 70/76 80/80. I actually dont think I would have lasted another turn as my phalanxes were scattered all over the place, and all my cavalry out of control and engaged, basically I had no reserves left at all whereas the Romans had quite a few units left in good going. I think it would be a nice feautre if Slith. would add a feature to allow battles to continue after one side breaks, it would be fun to see if you could actually continue on to the bitter end.

Ha ha, I thought that nice woodsy hill would have been a nice place to secure my flank but it ended up being a death trap as the Extraordinarri hunted my men down in there!

Thanks again!
Cheers

Thanks - I am glad that you enjoyed the scenerio. It would be a nice feature to fight to the last man. The Pedites are no slouches - that is for sure. :D
