Would putting it back a couple of hours help?

Given that several likely players are planning to be on a trip to Gettysburg putting the test match start time back would work well for that.

Dave,

For those that are traveling to Gettysburg, do you know if they are going to be there for an extended period of time?

Have they hired a guide?

Is it the first time for most?

I ask since there is tons of stuff to do there and I might be able to get a "guide" (someone who is studying to become an offical National Parks Guide- ranked being harder to achieve somewhere between finding out who is on the US TEST team roster and a PhD.)

With all the new work completed there, for those that haven't been back will have a whole new perspective on the battlefield. Much of the grounds have been made more "authentic" by cutting back the undergrowth of several key sites - LRT, McPhr Woods, BRT, etc...

Might be a bit late, but if enough interest is there, I'll put the call out to see what availability there is... I promise, this will not be a repeat of the canoe trip of NO... Western PA doesn't have the swampy marsh---The smell comes from the Amish!

From our attempts so far it does look like it is easier to get a PHD than for Dan to let everybody know who is part of Team Septic :)

I am wanting to go to Gettysburg, but only if we don't have to set off at stupid o'clock and leave 30 minutes after we get there to return for the test matches. If we need to put the times back then I will need to know by close of play today so I can get emails out on Monday - I have already told everybody that it is a 5:15 start.

Incidentally MadCam - did you get my note regarding the game of FoW?

On the Gettysburg front, the bloke taking us there seems to know what he is doing and had a couple of ideas. Obviously us being wargamers would probably be a guide's worst nightmare anyway...

Madcam,

Just to back up what Dave says, it looks like we can set the test matches back to a 6pm kick-off which combined with a hopefully shorter travelling time than 1st thought, should mean we can fit in both G/burg and the test matches.
See y'all soon!

Wayne 'the hammer' Hansen actually fought at Gettysburg, he was the old guy with the rifle.

DaveR,

I got your message but don't remember, are you bringing FoW with you? If this Gettysburg thingy happens we might just have to have that game another time and just settle with drinking on Thursday night....

I am bringing some FoW stuff, possibly having a game on Friday evening.

Gettysburg sounds good and yes, I will probably be having a couple of halfs on Thursday evening. Whether that is after having slaughtered some poor septic or having been swept from the field remains to be seen.

Of course, if somebody would actually let us know who is on Team Septic we could start getting personal....

Having ruled myself out of the UK test teams I now realise that I arrive in the US at a sensible hour and am available for a game if required.

So Dan - it doesn't have to be a test game, but if you have someone who fancies a game on the Thursday night I'll turn up with my army and see if there are any takers?

Cheers

Pete,

I'll gladly give you a warm up game, not quite Southsea community centre, but I am sure we can cope none the less.

Cheers

I will also happily play a warmup game, assuming that I am not either playing in or refereeing the Test Matches. Come on Dan! Never mind all the other important things that that you need to do, pay attention to what I want. I have neeeeeeeeeds!

Sounds good Paul!

Dan tells me that you've very kindly offered to meet me at the airport so the least I can do is lose graciously.

You can tell me all about your experiences of Southsea Community Centre when we meet.

Saturday's Sports Mail is in the bag. Tonight's game vs Sunderland is a bit of a formality now but I hope we still go for the 3 points anyway.

See you on Thursday.

Cheers

I figured you would be glueing together your new plastic figures?

Thanks for the paper Pete, I can chill with some cider and watch the Pompey game, especially as one happy traveller managed to miss his flight, and I don't have to collect him this evening US time. :D

Tempting....

But too much of a risk that they'll be in bits again by the time I get them home.

Look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
