You know I can't resist visiting places other games skip over. So PzC2 can go to tiny Denmark, it can probably go to the Channel Islands.
But it'll probably not be a normal scenario. The Channel islands were abandoned by the British, and the Germans basically just walked in. Their position in the English Channel just isn't very advantageous. Whoever controls Cherbourg has as much position advantage as the Channel Islands, with infinitely more port and other infrastructure facilities to boot.
Even more interesting some of the very, very, very last German hold outs in 1945 were... the Channel Islands.

I am actually from Jersey, we do a lot of study on the subject.
The Germans probably increased the size of both of the main islands considerably with the amount of concrete they shipped over...
They are quite interesting to look at and explore. The bunkers I mean.
Edit: One thing that you might not know, Elizabeth Castle got a lot of very long range anti-shipping artillery built into it. It could really come into play in any fictional assault on the mainland UK via the channel. It had the power and accuracy to sink ships attempting to pass via the channel in either direction.

Was that ready in September 1940? I suspect not.Edmon wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 9:07 pm Edit: One thing that you might not know, Elizabeth Castle got a lot of very long range anti-shipping artillery built into it. Also, from looking at the historically war games of Sea Lion, the proposed landing spots near Hythe are so far removed from the Channel Islands. The British knew that, which is why the just gave up the islands without a fight in the first place. That's certainly my understanding at least.
Such a weapon for control of the Channel shipping lanes? Maybe I could believe that, absolutely. But some kind of artillery piece to support the invasion? The range is too far, and the location is completely wrong.
Re: 1940 dlc new units wish list
In 1941 they installed a lot of the 15 cm SK L/45 coastal defence guns. Effective range was 18km. Not enough range to threaten the channel at that time. There were also Canon de 155 GPF mle.1917's which were captured by the Germans. These had more range, but not much more, 20 to 22km is about as far as they went.Kerensky wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 10:35 pmWas that ready in September 1940? They later installed bigger guns, but my attempts to look them up have failed. I will have to go back to the castle at some point and find out what they were!
Edit: The germans did have seriously long range weapons at the time though, the Paris gun had a whooping 120km range and that could definitely threaten the channel from Guernsey. But such weapons never made it to the islands historically.

Sure, but that's a railroad gun. As is this:Edmon wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 10:53 pm In 1941 they installed a lot of the 15 cm SK L/45 coastal defence guns. Effective range was 18km. Be a bit of an issue to get a railroad gun to an island I think. At that point, I think you might as well build a battleship carrying heavy guns if you need such a heavy gun to cross the seas. Enter Bismarck, completed in September 1940!

The British had artillery and search lights for use against ships on the South Coast. One of my Grandads was a searchlight operator for the RA and was stationed down in the cliffs.Kerensky wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 10:35 pmWas that ready in September 1940?
