I don't really know what happened there. Big stretch of water limited battle to center and one flank only, but the biggest factor by far were Armenian units hardly succeeding any cohesion checks right at the moment I was convinced my line will collapse.

High Middle Ages

Instructions

Please note: the default size for armies is 1200 points in this section; matches may be played at 1600 points only if both players agree.

Either player may set up the challenge in this section. Remember to PM your opponent as well as placing the challenge and password in this thread.

For matches in this section players will select "Open Battle" and will field a "Medium" army (1200 pts) and choose a "Medium" battlefield unless both players have stated a preference for playing at 1600 points. For 1600pt battles players will select "Open Battle" and will field a "Large" army and choose a "Wide" battlefield. Players are free to customise their army before each battle so "Default" is the correct Force Selection option. Terrain will always be "Pot Luck" unless otherwise specified. If a match is set-up incorrectly for any reason then it must be re-started as soon as possible.

Players will need to have the base game of FOG2 Medieval to enter this section of the tournament.

The final % scores for each player are taken from the in-battle display in the top left-hand corner of the screen and not the Final Losses screen that appears after the battle has ended where losses are adjusted for wounded and deserted troops.

Reporting the result of a match is the responsibility of the winning player. However, if you are the loser in a match and notice that the result has not been posted within 24 hours please post the result yourself. This helps to keep the league tables up to date.

Division A

Geffalrus (Byzantines) defeats LuciusSulla (Vikings and French) 61-33

The Byzantines anchored their right flank with infantry and cavalry on a hill while advancing aggressively with the cavalry and light troops on their left. The Vikings sent the bulk of their Huscarls against the Byzantine hill and were able to take the summit through numbers and sheer brute force. As the two armies rotated around the center, the Byzantine cavalry as just a bit quicker at wrapping around their enemy's flank, even in the face of valiant efforts by the French cavalry. Despite that, the Vikings held the Byzantines to 1% short of victory for turn after turn, making the Byzantine commander despair at ever seeing an end to ruinous war.
