I'm happy to play one of the NPC battles again. Don't mind which (though obviously not the last one!) but where there's an option, maybe the Welsh.

Rex Hurley I believe will take the Vandals. The Welsh are yours!

After these games sorry i am out of the campaign, I enjoy your system but rng in FOGD since the last patch is broken I dont mind being beaten by better play but when game after game is ruined by inconsistent dice and weird results I'm over it. Latest insult was watching a unit of Kabills lance dance its way in a zig zag past three fresh units deployed in depth without once engaging one while in pursuit then being free to turn and smack me next turn while on another flank his pursuers did a 270 degree turn and charged a unti in the rear breaking it while an equivalent unit of mine didnt go more than one pursuing broken light foot. Sorry but I need a break.

Ack! Sorry, didn't realise my opponent had been selected. Kabill, I'll start the match right away. Password will be 'northumbria' or just 'north' if that doesn't fit.

No problem at all, Rex. Anytime you want to come back, you're welcome to do so!
What's the status of this turn's Visigoth battles? I can take the Visigoths for any that haven't started.
Ironically, a bit of a role for luck/odd results in the battles works for the campaign game, because you can't really do much in the game without winning battles and a few victories going to the less experienced players creates more ebb and flow. But everyone has their bad luck/odd result frustration limit. Cavalry pursuit and evasion in particular seem to have lots of "What the...?" moments.

Looks like my battle in Saxonea is still without a general to lead the enemy.

Ah its alright I'm just being a cry baby and raging too much, there seems to be an extra amount of wt at the moment, kabill also managed a pursuit charge into an archer unit in a built up area causing the bow to disrupt even though they werent engage frontally and then in the hth the bow fragged. not Kabill's fault at all.Nijis wrote: ↑Sat Aug 11, 2018 5:02 pm No problem at all, Rex. If Ludendorf needs an opponent lets do it so we can get a another turn done now the league has pretty much finished perhaps we can lift the pace some.

Cool - did you want to do the Saxonea battle? If not I can.
I'll also take Vardus on in Hadhramaut.

Rex and I have kind of jumped into the game. Both my games are now in progress.

Great! Battle list is updated accordingly.

News from Dumnonia!
King Geraint personally leads his levies in a bold invasion of Saxonea to support his preferred claimant while his allies from Mercia march north to deal with trouble in Northumbria, which is struggling with influence from the Saxons down South, eager for revenge and to derail Geraint's efforts to reunite the old Roman province of Britannia. The wily Romano-British king manages to prevail in Saxonea, driving the rival claimant out and for the first time since Octavian's years, securing Roman influence within the briefly existent Roman province of Magna Germania.
However, grim news comes from the north. Geraint's Mercian allies are narrowly defeated in Northumbria, forcing them to retreat south with the civil strife in Northumbria ongoing. With his hold on Britannia now disputed in two provinces, and his continental holdings isolated, Geraint faces difficult dilemmas. He has footholds in three significant regions and mastery in none. What direction will the would-be ruler of Britain choose to move in now?

"Footholds in three significant regions and mastery in none" - that's the desired effect!
What were the scores in the battles?

Welsh (Kabill) defeats Romano-British (Ludendorf) 60-50%.
Romano-British (Ludendorf) defeats Germanic Foot Tribes (rexhurley) 48-21%.
Guess Geraint ain't becoming King of Britannia any time soon!

The Hadhramautis eek out the barest of victories over the Himyarids, 56 to 63. The Hadhramauti infantry, slightly superior in number, is on the verge of rolling up the Himyarid center when the highlanders' cavalry complete their flanking maneuver, shattering apart the oasis-dwellers' line. Only by luck do the Hadhramautis prevail in the few scattered melees that ultimately decide the battle.

The Ostrogoths have prayed to their gods and with the help of consistently spastic rng have spanked the Visigoths and sent the survivors running back to the Iberian peninsular and imprisoned those that dared to sail into Sardinia, the Vandals arent doing much better either damit

Re: 500 AD global campaign - Turn 2 battles are up, new players always welcome
The Vandal invasion of Tripolitania is repulsed by a spirited charge of horsemen fighting in the Byzantine style. Final result 60-39
With the Visigoth raid withdrawn and the fighting in Narbonesis resulting in a miraculous Ostrogoth victory, that concludes all of the Ostrogoth battles for the turn. Thanks to rexhurley for the games and for bearing through some pretty atrocious rolls (I should never have won our game for Narbonesis, not even a little bit).

Yes. It’s still ongoing.
