c'mon you lot. no-one ready to "out" their army pick for the basho? with only 17 days to "B" day there's not much time to rip the mince oot each others picks or get the betting straight for 2nd and 3rd spots! hunter

Nigel, I like the Marston Moor combo. I actively considered it myself but did not have time to paint all the additional units I needed. I will watch your progress with interest.

Given the number of Horse Masters that will be there, ive gone for the upgraded foot and taken the "supporting" horse options as opposed to the 4 units of super duper DH, which did Byron and I very well last weekend.. I have two weeks to paint 15 bgs.... a few late evenings/early mornings... and to save time PS7 flags.

Updated

Please not the AM Forum

But still waiting for John & Don

Come on the rest of you own up

So Intelligence Information gathered so far basically lots and lots of scots in various forms and various armies

I have more than 35 bases that go at least 5 inches per go (ok I'll be honest 39 bases to be exact)
Dave Allen Later Imperial Austrian but for those of you who played my Later Imperial Austrian it won't be anything like mine(no Scots)
Nigel Emsen Scots Covenanters with lots and lots of battlegroups
Hunter Scots-Dutch
Simon Jacobite Scots
Richard Young surely an army from Africa (no Scots)
Don McHugh surely an army from India(no Scots)
Byron Emsen TYW French (Scots mercenaries)
Matthew P TYW French (Scots mercenaries)
Jim Copeland Scots Royalist
Richard Bodley-Scott (Anglo-Dutch)
Matthew Poole TYW French (Scots mercenaries)

So who left to guess (and my random guesses) my apologies if I am totally wrong or don't know you

Ray Boyles Boyles
Charles Masefield (Never get this one right)
Fredric Bohm
David Parish (TYW German)
Mick Hood (TYW German)
David Redhead (Kittens)
Lynnette Maxim (Surely the Samurai are back, be afraid, be very afraid)
Don Avis (Interesting)
Keith Spedding (Swedish)
Simon LeRay-Meyer (TYW German)
Martin van Tol (Welcome back to the one true rule set after playing fantasy at Rollcall, It has to be an army that he is fluent in the language off so any army in wars of religion or clash of empires)
John Munro (Waiting with bated breath, but to be fair not sure John knows yet, come on Hunter sort him out)
Peter Gregory

we are getting there it will be a great weekend, we are just waiting for john to make his mind up

Cheers

Alasdair

And as Hunter says once the ancient boys realise we are playing the ONE true rule set the better for them

Alasdair, Nigel might not have quite so many battle groups if he has the Marston Moor option as those Superir horse etc will reduce the numbers a lot.
I see you are fishing a lot but still holding back somewhat on your own army. If you have as many Dragoons as you claimed I can only see it as big Louis and his boys but you could be trying to fool us poor country boys coming to the big city for a fleecing.

Afraid, my bg count is much reduced... Version alasdair is revering too was 23 BGs, but I found poor breaking on two BGs was just too brittle in a standup shooty match... It's still atleast as big my my attack 2013 list... Ben will be properly his usual impact foot french , 3 superior BGs etc... Somewhere between 1630-1700 AD just which flavour.... Bob if he's playing, something balanced...

Whats the appeal of Anglo-Dutch?

The foot looks pretty top shelf but isn't the mounted average DH (ie poo)?

Do people just run it with a bare minimum of mounted or do they taks spanish allies or some such?

Is is a patriotic thing for you UK players?

Anglo-Dutch is probably the best pure shooting army going, which is I think its main appeal. At 800 pts you can get 4 superior foot units which is more than most. In period, most of the other mounted around is also poo so it's not much of a disadvantage. In an Open period Late 17th century cavalry will often be outclassed by 30YW cuirassiers anyway so again you'll not be wanting to get involved with them.

Hunter, I am unsure whether or not you are encouraging me to violence. I thought tradition was that after picking up the gauntlet you were required to smack your opponent across the face with it. I respect Alasdair far too much to take such action.
I have no problem disclosing my army but Mr Avis has not as yet submitted his list as far as I am aware.
