Map I (Round 5, 316 BC): Concluded battles

Post by kronenblatt »

  1. Armchairbaron attacks ulysisgrunt using army of Paropamisadai. Attacker satrapy Paropamisadai, defender satrapy Baktriane.
    =>ulysisgrunt draws with Armchairbaron 21-5.
  2. ulysisgrunt attacks kronenblatt using army of Baktriane. Attacker satrapy Baktriane, defender satrapy Areia.
=> kronenblatt wins 51-23. No C-in-C fell in battle.
  3. kronenblatt attacks ulysisgrunt using army of Karmania. Attacker satrapy Areia, defender satrapy Drangiane.
=> kronenblatt wins 61-40. No C-in-C fell in battle.
  4. carpenkm attacks kronenblatt using army of Syria with Arab allies. Attacker satrapy Syria, defender satrapy Aigyptos.
    => kronenblatt wins 43-15. kronenblatt's C-in-C fell in battle.
kronenblatt gains Syria, Drangiane, and Baktriane from battle victories. In addition, due to the draw between ulysisgrunt and Armchairbaron, "poor" kronenblatt also gains Paropamisadai and Baktriane under the *Opportunistic gains of satrapies" rule ("If there are no victors from any battles in a War at all, i.e., only draws, all the satrapies-at-stake of the War will instead be gained by the one player (if any) not involved in the War and neighbouring any of the satrapies-at-stake of the War, with the fewest controlled satrapies (at the start of the round)."), where he's the only other player neighbouring these satrapies-at-war.

Without this, kronenblatt already had reached the required 13 Satrapies but now ends up with 15. He can, and does, now claim victory on Map I!

Many thanks to Armchairbaron, carpenkm, and ulysisgrunt for participating: hope you enjoyed this third season of Dividing the Spoils!

Aetius39 attacks Rosedelio using army of Arakhosia. Attacker satrapy Arakhosia, defender satrapy Indike.

Rosedelio (Indike) defeats Aetius39 (Arakhosia) 50-11

Another deep stream separated the two armies. The Indike army deployed wide while the Arakhosian army concentrated on their right. Due to this, the Indike army delayed on their left while their center and right redeployed to fighting and shooting at the stream. The Indian allied light artillery helped the right win before the left collapsed from the Arakhosian pikes.

Aigyptos wins 63-59.
Close battle, it was 59 all on my last turn and managed a couple of routs either of which might not have happened.

C in C still alive.

Geffalrus attacks tyronec using army of Thrake. Attacker satrapy Thrake, defender satrapy Makedonia.

Victor by a literal hair's margin is Geffalrus with a score of 58-61. No cinc killed not that I think it matters.

An absolute ton of pikemen died that day on both sides. The Macedonians got the better of the pike fight, but the Thracians had better luck in the big medium foot scrum and managed to outflank the Macedonian phalanx SLIGHTLY faster than the Macedonians could fully grind down the Thracian phalanx.

That one is done, but I'm politely waiting for Rose to post it as it's his victory. No cinc killed.

Rosedelio attacks Geffalrus using army of Hyrkania. Attacker satrapy Media, defender satrapy Mesopotamia.

Rosedelio (Hyrkania) defeats Geffalrus (Mesopotamia) 63-33. No C-in-C killed.

The Hyrkanian army deployed horse archers on the open left and a mass of mediums and lights on the rough right. This left the center struggling against the superior Mesopotamian infantry. However, the Hyrkanian army was slowly able to envelop from the victorious right flank.

Round 5 (316 BC): Map II attack declarations

Post by kronenblatt »

Attack declarations
  1. Aetius39 (C-in-C killed) (-39) (Dec. 4)
  2. Geffalrus (C-in-C killed) (-30) (Dec. 5)
  3. Rosedelio (-4) (Dec. 6)
  4. tyronec (C-in-C killed) (-3) (Dec. 7)

Please note that:
  • In order to make my life easier when documenting the attack declarations, please post them in the following format:
    • rbodleyscott attacks kronenblatt using army of Gedrosia and Indian 500 BC - 319 AD allies. Attacker satrapy Babylonia, defender satrapy Mesopotamia.
  • Attack declarations are posted in the campaign thread.
  • Please feel free to post your attack declaration before the date above as well, but not after.
  • Date (midnight CET+1 (Pella) time) above indicates deadline, after which opportunity for you to declare attack is forfeited and the player next in line may declare his attack.
  • Once you have declared an attack, please PM the player next in line, who will then be free to declare his attack, up to his deadline, so we all don't need to wait for each player's deadline.
  • Rules are found in the third post of the campaign thread.
  • The map and province information in the second post of the campaign thread is also useful.
In case any of you have any questions (which I'm sure you have, no problems :) ), please post them in the campaign thread in order for everyone else to see the question as well as the answer.
