Weekly round-up
There is an exciting finish in prospect in Division A where harveylh (Gallic) posted his seventh win from 8 matches to maintain his lead at the top of the table. He can still be caught by 2 players who both have 5 wins from 6 starts - Nosy_Rat (Pontic) who still has to play harveylh and Triarii (Hannibal in Italy) who needs 3 four point wins to finish to reach 29 points. At the bottom klayeckles (Ptolemaic) prevailed over desertedfox (Macedonian) to ease his relegation fears slightly. No change at the top in Division B where Morbio (Hannibal in Italy) still leads by 5 points, but a third defeat for SLancaster (Roman) has seen an end to his promotion challenge. Challenge1 (Hannibal in Africa) moved closer to the top with his 4th win of the season. At the bottom DzonVejn (Roman) needs just 1 point from his last 2 matches to relegate paulmcneil (Saka). In Division C a blistering late run of 4 wins has seen Stew101 go to the top of the table with 7 wins from his 9 matches. Both kraff (Numidian) and oscarius (Sertorius) can still overtake him but a lot will now depend on the outcome of their match together. Warg1 (Roman) won automatic promotion from Division D this week by defeating his closest rival Aetius39 (Kyrenean Greek) who, in turn, registered 2 more wins to almost certainly secure second place. At the bottom Tresantes (Pyrrhic) is still without points and definitely needs to beat fellow struggler random27 (Samnite) to have any chance of avoiding the drop. Still very close in Division E where 3 players - Kerait (Roman), Blagrot (Sertorius) and tmac11 (Seleucid) are now queueing up to challenge long time leader joggy (Roman), who has finished on 24 points. In the relegation battle both Barrold713 (Seleucid) and Tratmot (Achaemenid) have 2 matches left to save themselves, including a match against each other. Geoffrey.P.Smith (Galatian) is sitting precariously just above them having now completed his matches. In Division F doomben (Bosporan) has finished his matches with an eighth consecutive win, but unfortunately the defeat in his first match was against second-placed kronenblatt (Pyrrhic), who now needs just 5 points from his last 2 matches against angel42052 (Achaemenid) and hscic (Tigranes) to win automatic promotion. The battle for the wooden spoon is still full swing with hscic, telesien (Hannibal in Italy) and SSB (Roman) desperately looking for some points in their last few matches.

CheAhn (Sassanid) moved to the top of Division A this week having recovered from 2 opening defeats to finish with 6 wins and 26 points. It doesn't look like that will be enough to win the champion's place as Nosy_Rat just needs 6 points from his 4 remaining matches to overtake him. LuciusSulla (Roman) still has a good chance although his only defeat came against Nosy_Rat. It is wide open in Division B where schmolywar (Jewish Revolt) has finished on a modest 24 points, 4 ahead of DzonVejn who has finished on 20. It is still mathematically possible for 5 other players to beat that 24 point target, with Najanaja (Dacian) currently best placed to do so with 3 wins and a draw from 5 starts. In the relegation battle phoyle3290 (Sassanid) prevailed over lunecastle (Byzantine) in what could turn out to be a very important match. A similar situation exists in Division C where it is still possible for 6 players to overtake the current leader SLancaster (Roman). Best-placed to do so at the moment is oscarius (Jewish Revolt) who has 5 wins from 7 matches. Aetius39 (Bosporan) has won automatic promotion in Division D after posting his eighth consecutive victory against promotion rival Ironclad (Roman). He has the same number of points now as Warg1 (Scots-Irish) whom he defeated in their match together. Ironclad will finish third after a very good season. At the bottom bomber23 (Arab City) must beat fellow struggler Supervark (Byzantine) to have any chance of avoiding the drop. Morat (Lombard) is still the leader in Division E where closest challenger Rob123 (Germanic Horse Tribes) lost to Blagrot (Arab City). Barrold713 (Palmyran) and snooky51 (Parthian) both have 3 wins from 4 matches and could mount a late challenge for the automatic promotion place. There were no results from Division F this week.

Division E

Morat (Lombards) beat random27 (Romans/Arabs) 61-55.

A battle which swung throughout - and which was very nearly a Roman win. Roman/Arab archers and light horse shredded the Lombard right. But a sweeping move by warbands and lancers broke through on the left and made good inroads to the Centre. In the end the Romans were perhaps only a turn away from getting to 60%.

Weekly round-up
Nosy_Rat's (Spanish) incredible winning sequence of 30 matches in Division A was finally ended by close rival Macedonczyk (Andalusian) this week. Macedonczyk now leads the table by 1 point ahead of harveylh (Frankish) and a lot will depend on the outcome of their match together. I have to pinch myself when writing this, but towards the bottom of the table pantherboy (Hindu North) will be looking to get something from his last match against late replacement Sennacherib (Umayyad) to ease his relegation concerns. In Division B further wins for Cunningcairn (German) just about clinches the runners-up spot for him while, at the bottom, kraff suffered a sixth successive defeat to leave him adrift in the relegation place. Stew101 (Frankish) still leads Division C but Aetius39 (Andalusian) is now moving into a strong challenging position after posting his fifth successive win. It seems unlikely now that anyone else will have a chance of gaining automatic promotion in this division. In Division D only the relegation issue is still to be decided with Doyley50 (Viking), rs2excelsior (German), and Kerait (Arab North Africa) all desperate for points. rs2excelsior and Kerait still have to play each other. A defeat for snooky51 (Dailami) in Division E this week may have ended his promotion push although current leader kronenblatt (Rus) is still being challenged by DryNick (Arab Conquest) and Blagrot (British). Finally, in Division F, carpenkm (Norman) is gradually tightening his grip on proceedings and is now firm favourite to win automatic promotion. toska (German) has moved into second place and is currently 6 points behind carpenkm and he needs to win his match against him to have any chance of taking the automatic promotion place.
