harveylh - Frankish 751-887 AD with Croatian 625-849 AD allies defeats Sennacherib - Arab (Umayyad) 685-750 AD with Moorish 350-698 AD allies 56-31
Hard fought lancer versus lancer initially and then spear versus spear. Thanks for the game.

harveylh - Gallic 300-101 BC with Samnite 355-272 BC allies defeats hidde - Numidian or Moorish 55 BC-6 AD with Roman 24 BC-196 AD allies 42-17
The Numidians had early success with their skirmishers and caused great frustration, but the Gauls successfully maintained their flanks. Once the main battle lines engaged, the Gallic warbands won their battles except against the Numidian elephants of which there were fortunately only two.

Division F
Darkwater247 - Scots 851-1051 AD with Viking 900-1049 AD allies defeats wellsonian - Byzantine 988-1041 AD 63 - 56
One of the closest games I have played in the league, this really could have gone either way, with the game swinging to both players throughout, the Byzantines broke through on my right, and started getting some rear charges, but the scots dug deep and managed to counter, whilst pushing forward in the centre. A pleasure of a game.

Macedonczyk is a great player also. So, not a full surprise that he can challenge Nosy_rat.

Division E
Captain Savage (Visigoth with Byzantine allies) defeats random27 (Roman with Arab allies) 59:31
This was the longest battle of the campaign. I think we were down to the last two or three turns. The Romans came with lots of heavy infantry with some archers and some mediums on his right flank and a few divisions of Arab cavalry on his left flank and some camelry to upset my lancers. For experimental reasons I decided to see how I would fare with my maximum loadout of bow cavalry and reduced my erratic warbands to a minimum bringing in the Byzantine infantry to give them a bit of backbone in the infantry front line in the centre. It was very messy. The mounted archers managed to shoot the camelry into submission but were chased around by the Arab lancers. Lacking armour, the Arab lancers were eventually driven off with a combination of archery and armoured cavalry charges. My left flank was a scattered story of light and massed archers hiding in woods and trying to hold off much better melee troops and armoured archers and once again my lone unit of medium infantry did excellent work running around in the woods and dealing with loose enemy units trying to flank me. The centre was absolute chaos with lancers and warbands up against Roman elite heavy infantry and other armoured troops. Just at the end the Romans had managed to fight through my scrappy front line and prepare to flank charge part of my battle line. Could have easily swung back to a draw at that point if there was one more turn.
As a side note it is great to see that the Visigoth army, chosen on a whim really, was a great deal of fun to play with. For someone with my level of skill and experience I am glad that I took the advice (from numerous sources)to play with an army that I would enjoy playing, as I am likely to lose as often as I win and I need to enjoy both adventures. I can thoroughly recommend this approach to anyone starting out. Thanks to all my opponents, you were honourable and polite in both victory and defeat. I will see you in the next season I hope.

Division C
Kraff (Kushan 130 BC-476 AD) defeats Bluefin (Alan 25-650 AD): 61-30.
Both sides of this match were very careful not to commit too early and tried very hard to lure each other into a situation that would prove disadvantageous for the opposing side. Only a few turns before the end of the battle the Kushans gained advantage, but it still wasn't enough to secure a win and it seemed the battle would have no victor. On the very last turn they managed to rout a few Alan units and secure required 25pts.
Thank you for the battle, Bluefin.
