Aetius39 (Kyrenean Greek) defeats Random (Samnite) 63-38

Very hard fought game where there was a hill across the middle of the map at an angle that the Samnites got to first. The Greeks tried to outflank them by sending their left north-east, but foolishly many units got stuck fighting from lower ground against the Samnites on the hill. Mid-game the Greek general was thinking defeat was upon them, but a few lucky rallies, along with the collapse of the Samnite right (the side that the flank was attempted on) eventually put the them over the edge. Again, the rallies really helped and my opponent fought bravely and well! GG!^^

Weekly round-up
Nosy_Rat (Breton) has established a firm grip on Division A this week after posting his fifth win in a match against reserve LuciusSulla (Roman) who has also started well. ConstantinIX (Palmyran) has won his first 2 matches and nyczar (Scots-Irish) has started with a win. In division B a fourth win for schmolywar (Jewish Revolt) has seen him extend his lead to 9 points over the chasing pack. batesmotel (Germanic Horse Tribes) is currently best-placed to challenge for automatic promotion having started with 2 straight wins. SLancaster (Roman) is the new leader in Division C by 3 points and he is closely pursued by oscarius (Jewish Revolt) and Garokan (Bosporan). In Division D Aetius39 (Bosporan) is steadily closing the gap on the current leader Warg1 (Scots-Irish) who has finished on an impressive 32 points. He now needs 12 points from his last 4 points to take the automatic promotion place. Ironclad (Roman) is also playing very well with 4 wins from 5 starts. A good tussle is developing in Division E where Morat (Lombard) has moved to the top of the table ahead of Rob123 (Germanic Horse Tribes) and Barrold713 (Palmyran). Conteshard (Byzantine) still leads Division F while TomoeGozen (Soissons) has moved into second place with 2 wins this week. It is still possible for Wellsonian (Roman), Darkwater247 (Gepid) or toska (Sassanid) to make a challenge, particularly if toska manages to beat Conteshard in his last match.

Weekly round-up
harveylh (Gallic) is the new leader in Division A and is starting to develop a very commanding position with 5 straight wins. Cunningcairn (Roman) and Sennacherib (Thracian Getae) are in joint second place just 3 points behind but both have only 2 matches left. A second defeat for klayeckles (Ptolemaic) leaves him uncharacteristically in joint ninth place with a lot to do now to get into the championship battle. Morbio (Hannibal in Italy), who came in as a reserve, has rapidly moved to the top of the table with 4 wins from 7 starts, ahead of SLancaster (Roman) who is a point behind with a game in hand. Both Challenge1 (Hannibal in Africa) and batesmotel (Pergamene) are still unbeaten though and look set to play a big part in the promotion battle in this division. Division C is very much wide open with oscarius (Sertorius) still in front with 4 straight wins although kraff (Numidian), Najanaja (Hannibal in Italy) and Stew101 (Roman) have also all made very good starts with 3 wins apiece. At the bottom there were first wins for cromlechi (Gallic), bomber23 (Seleucid) and SawyerK (also Seleucid) so everyone in the division has registered a win now. It looks like Division D is going to be another battle between the current leader Warg1 (Roman) and Aetius39 (Kyrenean Greek) as everyone else is struggling to put a winning run together. A very interesting situation is developing in Division E where joggy (Roman) is the leader in the clubhouse with 24 points and there are probably 5 other players, led by deeter (Hannibal in Italy) and tmac11 (Seleucid), who could mount a challenge for promotion. Badger73 (Roman) is still the leader in Division F having posted a modest target of 22 points. doomben (Bosporan) has moved ahead of kronenblatt (Pyrrhic) to take second place with angel42052 (Achaemenid) back in fourth. One of these three players should eventually take the automatic promotion place.

The Mogadon is starting to wear off now in Division A and we have had some results. Nosy_Rat (Spanish) has taken an early lead with 3 straight wins and harveylh (Frankish) and Macedonczyk (Andalusian have both won their first 2 matches. Surprisingly, both ConstantinIX (Viking Ireland) and pantherboy (Indian Hindu) have lost 2 matches each and are currently joint bottom of the table. In Division B Lucius Sulla (Andalusian) has 32 points from 8 matches, while all the other players have now amassed 44 points altogether - so they will definitely get more than him at the end of the season! Seriously though, Lucius Sulla just needs to avoid defeat in his last match against Challenge1 (Viking Ireland) to gain automatic promotion, and even if he was defeated Challenge 1 would then probably need to win 5 of his 6 other matches to take the top spot. Division C is very interesting with 5 players still in with a shout. Warg1 (Arab Conquest) is currently top, but he has suffered 2 defeats and cannot afford any more. mr cholo (Viking Ireland) and Stew101 (Frankish) are just 4 points back with 2 games in hand alongside Karvon (also Arab Conquest) who has played 7 matches. Aetius39 (Andalusian) is back in fifth, unbeaten with 2 straight wins and looks set to make a strong challenge. BishUK (Indian Hindu) has managed to overtake long time front runner joggy (Serbian) and now needs to win his last match against ninth-placed random27 (Viking Ireland) to set the others a competitive target. Conteshard (Byzantine) is continuing in steady pursuit with 5 wins from 6 starts and looks the most likely challenger, although tmac11 (Khorasanian) may yet make a late challenge. kronenblatt (Rus) and DryNick (Arab Conquest) are still fighting it out at the top of Division E and Blagrot (British) has started well with 2 wins from 2 starts. carpenkm (Norman) is the new leader in Division F with 4 wins and a draw from 5 starts. CoryC (Abbasid), wellsonian (Byzantine) and toska (German) have all made good starts as well and are very much in the promotion race.

MorkinTheFree - Pontic 110-85 BC defeated Stew101 – Roman 105 - 25 BC with Armenian 331 BC-252 AD allies with score 49-24

Division C

SawyerK (Seleucid with Lysimachid allies) defeated Bomber23 (Seleucid with Jewish allies) by 63-33.

The battle involving two Seleucids armies centered around control for two hills, one rough and one open. After a series of hotly contested conflicts with medium units the Jewish forces won control of the rough hill but that came too late against the Lysimachids who moved off the smooth hill into the open plain. The game was at 42-33 only three moves prior to the end but the Lysimachids benefited from a series of flank attacks involving pikes that resulted in the win, which was fortunate as the Jewish army had thrust a cavalry unit and an elephant through the center of the battle line.

pompeytheflatulent is starting to take control of Division A with 4 straight wins now. harveylh and hidde will need to take points off him in their matches against him if they are to have any chance of overtaking him. In a sluggish Division B XLegione, Cunningcairn and Challenge1 remain unbeaten in their opening matches and the promotion place looks to be between them at the moment. MorkinTheFree has already won Division C but the last 2 matches to be played see ahuyton and NikiforosFokas play-off for the runners-up position. In Division D, which has already been won by Warg1, kraff has put together a winning run of 5 matches which has given him a chance of sharing runners-up position with Aetius39. He needs to beat SawyerK 4-0 twice to do this. A very exciting finish is taking place in Division E where Rob123 has finished on a modest 25 points. deeter has 3 matches left to get 6 points to overtake that total, while Blagrot has 5 matches left (2 of them against deeter) and can still reach 32 points. random27 is not out of the hunt completely and can get to 28 points if he beats Blagrot twice - and that may be enough if deeter and Blagrot share the spoils in their matches together. In Division F tmac11 moved closer to kronenblatt at the top of the table and now needs 11 points from 3 matches to gain automatic promotion.
